hey everyone it's Juliana Jules with
jewel loom and I have my large
Sun Weaver Loom with me today and
actually it's night time it's dark
and I just was getting really called to
work with um my son Weaver I
ah boy there's so many things I'd like
um you know one of the gifts
that I absolutely love that I've
is this well the gift of being a woman
desire to help other women
um I love helping my guys too
but um I've always had this thing about
you know just empowering women and to
make them feel or help them feel better
about themselves right no matter what
what might be going on and there's such
a deep passion and then and then there's
this connection to every little girl
and so um tonight I'm just feeling
I guess emotional about that
fire lit inside of me and so um
so yeah so I just got really called to
work on um on the large Sun Warrior and
so I I love her because you know you can
and you can warp all the way to the back
and you can end up with this incredibly
I think what I'm gonna do is I'd like to
show you how to warper and
and maybe just if you try it if you have
um sunweaver Warrior Weaver right it's
all it's all good all the same but um
there's something incredibly uh
symbolic like all the words right that
happens when she's warped
and so I had a piece for a really long
time that I warped and then I just
stared at her and so um so I want to
show you how to warp her so I am I want
to work with the hemp I'm going to work
with the um one millimeter hemp and
originally I did grab some gorgeous
um but I just felt like it was a little
but you could certainly try that so I've
got like a little Loop that I've already
and I'm just going to tie that oops and
I've undone my Loop did I undo my loop I
actually I want it to be around one of
let's just get a little closer
yeah I'm actually standing and weaving
but when I um well warping when I get to
the weaving part I am going to
so yeah so I just did two nice little
what we'll refer to as teeth
and these this is the Riser right so
this is the Riser and it's got its own
what I would also refer to as teeth
so I'm going to bring this forward all
right and I'm just going to make sure
and I'm going to bring it all the way
down and this is kind of fun you see how
I'm just holding holding her waist
well I consider myself Kirby
and they come in all different
sizes and shapes and colors
and again there's just something so
and so while you're warping maybe think
about that what that means for you
so I'm going to bring this down to meet
and then I'm going to wrap that around
the tooth there and sometimes what I'll
is if I see any looseness like it's not
all the way at the bottom I'll take my
thumb my fingernail and I'll push that
down I'm going to go ahead and skip a
and I'll bring it back up here to the
I'm gonna help to guide it
I'm going to bring that down again
bring that all the way back up to the
when you're you know when we do our bead
weaving we're always so cautious and
and focused on how tight our warp is
and we want this to be tight but
it's not necessarily as intense
as maybe when we're beading
so you know don't don't don't get too
overly worried about that
so I'm going to come back down and again
and I just want to make sure this is
nestled all the way down there
and then I'm going to come back up
and by all means you know I'm
I'm standing doing this but typically
I'd be sitting down but I really wanted
to make sure that I could
get the process in the camera
it's very interesting as you start to
and what emotions might come up
you know it's like we're hiding behind
the veil of something right you're
different seasons of Our Lives
sometimes we just feel a little safer
I learned something today and
it's okay to shine and you know wherever
your faith is I believe in God and I
believe God wants us to shine
okay so I'm gonna bring this down again
back up we go hopefully my hemp doesn't
decide to roll off the table hold on one
second here because things are getting
so I'm just gonna see how it feels as
far as like how wide I want this to go
such an absolutely beautiful design on
I'm so happy that we could make her
this with the beautiful butterflies and
um you know just the gorgeous Sun
I think what's really resonating with me
today is just the protection of
that one we grew up with remember her
so yeah okay let's see here so I'm
um if I want to go all the way across
I mean that's a pretty wide piece
kind of feeling like this is where I'm
I mean I gotta take a I gotta take a
look at her for a second okay
yeah I think so I think that's good
are you feeling it I don't know I feel
I'm feeling okay forget it I'm gonna go
it'll be more balanced and I think
that's what I'm in need of right now
so okay so that would be it that would
be my last Warp isn't that fascinating I
mean when you look at her
again it's like she's standing behind
um we're reflecting and we're learning
things that maybe took place
things that are coming forward to us
yeah it's just I mean there's just
something really precious about weaving
I I've you know that you know you know
how much I love that and and that
Soulful dance of it all right
and the story the story is what gets me
so I'm gonna go ahead and
um I love I love this little little
thing that Danielle Wicks does she says
this most adorable little I should I
mean she's just so precious so I don't
this little Peapod but she's a little
Peapod like me so um anyway she just
kind of like did this cool little
to help help her sustain her knot and I
thought that was pretty stinking clever
and really however you get to the point
so I'm gonna go ahead and cut
and again I just my ultimate goal here
and we just want to make sure we're
getting that nice and tight
something that came to me let me finish
so when I was at bead Fest I had the
pleasure and honor of spending time with
Jean from beads of Courage
if you don't know about beets of Courage
I would highly recommend that you do go
and check it out it's pretty profound
and the things that you'll be exposed to
of children who are in pain
um it just blows my mind and
and so uh I would definitely check check
okay hold on because I need to pay
attention when I'm telling this story
okay so I'm gonna turn her I've got her
on her head right now she probably
um in case you want to know too
she's got this beautiful comb
Sunshine is the best medicine so you use
the comb when you're pushing down the
weaves that's going to be a whole
different a different video just so that
you can go back and then you are my
sunshine how precious this that for the
but one of the things that um Gene and I
um my Heritage and a lot of you probably
have heard me talk about my Portuguese
Heritage right so my father came to this
country when he was about 13 years old
with my grandma and my Aunt Maria and my
grandfather my Portuguese grandfather
had come to this country from the Azores
about two years prior to them coming and
so I spent the first part of my life
with my Portuguese Grandma and Grandpa
my Aunt Maria my mom and dad worked a
lot and so both my little brother and I
um spent a tremendous amount of time out
growing up with them and so a lot of my
stories and a lot of my memories and
experiences were with them and so my
grandma crocheted and she knitted
um you know they grew all their food
they had you know animals that they
um from and so my whole life was based
around a lot of this kind of literally
right handmade food handmade um
clothes my grandma sewed everything
but there's this whole other side
there's my mom's side and my mom
well her grandma my great-grandmother
and so I never really talk about that
and I'm not really sure why maybe
because so many of my memories again
were with my Portuguese side in my
but lately and especially since Gene
from beads of courage and I had this
conversation about my Native American
Heritage it's kind of like well oh yeah
gift right uh this passion
for weaving and not just weaving like I
right it's so incredible to be and I was
just kind of like wow I mean like duh
right so so it's like it's in me it's in
and so I just wanted to share that with
um I had this dream a while back
oh and it was like um not just a dream
but it would like you know when you have
that thing that comes to you and um
it happened happened about three years
about two no about two two years ago
two and a half years ago okay whatever
two and a half years ago and this little
um this young girl she was probably
um and she was on the reservation and
she walks up to me and she hands me a
and I just remember being so touched by
that and I couldn't figure out
like what why did I have that why did
and So lately all these things have just
been kind of like boiling up to the
these looms are so much about those
who go missing they're about
the girls and the women who lose
spiritually emotionally sexually
I'm so grateful for God's gifts for god
bringing me into this life the way that
he did and I'm so grateful for
um my family's stories and where they
so I did you know I make these Looms
with so much love and I hope that they
a passion I hope they somehow help you
to heal from whatever might
be going on in your life and your body
and when I say that I I just
I know that the healing isn't from the
loom but it's this beautiful
it's this beautiful tool that um
and when you find yourself hurting
um going through any type of trauma
there just really is a beautiful
Soulful Healing Connection
and so anyway I've never shared that
before and so here we are October 6th
the day after my birthday 2022.
and uh and this is just a part of who I
am another part and uh and so I hope
that you enjoyed my storytelling
you saw how easy it is to Warp the large
and again how cool that you can go all
the way to the back and make like a
really cool long piece right
so I'm going to work on um the weaving
where I'm actually going from left to
right and adding fibers I I got some
really beautiful colors of sorry ribbon
so thank you for spending this time
I hope it helped you somehow and I I
