Using Micro Beading Loom For Earrings with Danielle Wickes - Jewel Loom School Live with Jewels
Danielle Wickes joins Julianna “Jewels” Avelar on this week’s Jewel Loom School Live to show us how to make a pair of earrings on the Wisdom Warrior Micro Loom. This loom was inspired by Danielle & is the perfect size to make an earring with little waste of your warp materials! She is also sharing another beautiful pattern made for this loom. Danielle is full of great hints & techniques, so this is definitely another do not miss tutorial.

you have your odd it's Audrey Hepburn right oh thanks yeah I think it's Audrey
0:06
Hepburn yeah because she had she always had the hair up and really tight like that and
0:13
then and then a thingy a bun and then the earrings
0:18
this is called it's hailing today and so I didn't bother drying my hair oh gosh yeah
0:24
oh hey John John's like oh John's John juicy just see her face she's like we're
0:29
live [Laughter] hello hello hello Robin and Maria and
0:36
Cynthia and Melanie it's so great to see all of you here
0:42
um the lovely lovely uh Danielle Wicks is with me today we were just so excited
0:47
after last week's stream um and we were talking about the earring
0:52
looms and I was like maybe we should just come back next week because today I
0:58
was gonna start the sun Weaver um videos but I was like well let's just
1:04
let's stay with this because it really generated a lot of excitement with your
1:09
pattern and then you and I were talking about um tiles and we talked about how my
1:15
family's actually from the Azores from the island of the Azores were Portuguese and I love Portuguese tiles
1:23
um and so you just like I don't even know you were like oh yeah
1:31
I'm like this gross you are so amazing I was just cracking up like I can't believe how fast you
1:37
operate it's so cool oh there's Trisha we love you hi your earrings today were
1:44
so good I don't know if you saw Trish's um live today but she made some sexy
1:50
sassy earrings and um yeah I gotta check those out she and I have
1:57
something we're cooking something good cook it up cook it up yeah so we want we
2:04
want Church to love everywhere okay Zach is here Eliana
2:10
oh and somebody named jewel loom who Could That Be
2:15
Our very own Joan is behind the controls so um so anyway you once again uh
2:22
whipped up a beautiful pattern and I think he's so incredibly grateful for
2:28
you to be here um I pulled some colors from the jewel loom shop and I ended up not having a I
2:36
don't want to say um well my my darkest blue is just different it's called a metallic nebula
2:43
but I also yeah I was also kind of playing around with the idea of adding a
2:49
little red because um the Portuguese flag is red and green
2:54
and yellow and it has like this it's almost like a tanzanite
3:01
um blue purple in it in the in the emblem and but and then roosters
3:07
Portuguese roosters are like yeah so then I was like okay well maybe
3:14
I'll do a little red but I thought okay well I'm I'm gonna use this nebula which is like a tanzanite and
3:21
um so yeah so I have the Y and the yellow and the green and two different types of
3:26
turquoise like the turquoise original turquoise blue and then this nebula that I'm working with I think your color
3:33
palette's pretty similar but how brilliant to like look at a tile and and make and it's just I love it so you take
3:39
it over or you know I will talk and tell the cows come home those are like beautiful colors they're
3:46
awesome yeah yeah yeah um so I've got um well let's see I
3:51
started with the earrings I'll pull these off and show you oh okay and so um these are oh my gosh yeah I just this is
4:00
so fun they're so fun you gotta go
4:05
right it's awesome my iPad's in use you got to go but I'm sorry
4:12
I can't do we love you I'm using it right now to go live but you gotta go I'm sorry
4:18
[Music] buddy you got it I'm sorry
4:27
nobody it doesn't work that way can you please please close the door please thank you please close the door
4:35
I'm sorry you know what such reality right oh my
4:41
gosh yeah God bless you no I mean this is like this is the way we work now there is no you know what I mean he
4:49
actually wants my iPad and I'm currently yeah no you handled that really well
4:55
really well I love it there you go parenting 101 by Danielle
5:01
I don't know I sometimes I feel like a mom failed because I let them do a lot of screen time
5:07
you know it's just anyway back to the earrings yeah I was inspired by the tiles and so
5:14
what I did is just like a Google search I went on looked for pictures of tiles and then just made a little loom pattern
5:20
that didn't look like it and then you went a little crazy with some Fringe and yeah yeah no you were
5:27
you were shooting those over this past weekend and I was just like oh my God I can't these are so cool
5:34
oh yeah no I love them I really do love them and they look like you know they're
5:39
going to be pretty fairly easy to put together you're using the little boo-boo earring looms which again you know these
5:47
just started off as a marketing um promo item that I took to bead Fest
5:54
they were flat they didn't have the risers and Danielle got one and then the next
6:00
thing I knew she had made a pair of earrings and I was like oh my gosh girl and it was so exciting and then from
6:06
there of course um Robert figured out how to make like this little tiny Boo-boo you know Riser
6:12
situation and uh and so yeah so two of them you get two of them in a pack
6:18
and people have been loving them and Danielle you just we we realized last
6:24
week that we had never showed um a demo with the risers we you did a beautiful
6:31
demo and exploit explanation when they were flat so that's why we're back and so we're
6:39
once again just super honored and um and please Joan's going to be posting uh the
6:44
links for the affiliate link for uh Danielle and please make sure that you use that
6:50
so that's my yeah so yeah so you keep going oh yeah yeah sorry so um what I did is I
6:59
I just made a a quick design that has um it's 13 columns and so you'll need 14
7:05
work strands okay and there's um there's actually two patterns I haven't made the
7:11
second one yet it's a simpler one the second one um this is the one that really got my heart I was like this is this is so cool
7:18
um but there's another one that's um in the link that Jones been dropping you can try too and it also has 13
7:24
columns so you would need 14 works oh okay cool I'm gonna bring let's see
7:31
so I I have my pattern up on my up on my
7:37
screen you can print your pattern and follow it that way
7:43
um I think with my hat band patterns I tend to print them so that I can you know take a ruler or a piece of paper
7:49
and kind of you know follow the lines this is short so I'm feeling like maybe
7:56
I can yeah I can have a split screen here and uh
8:03
so okay go ahead [Laughter] oh
8:09
um our I don't know if everyone can see my mat yet or not oh
8:14
there you go thanks John yeah John you could get rid of me
8:19
okay and so um what I've got here is one that's done basically but I have another one here to show setting it up
8:27
um and then um I've got this one finished it's ready to remove and show finishing so let's
8:32
just jump in I've got some wildfire and that's what I've been using the 0.06 feel free to use any color any color
8:38
that you've gone will work just fine and I was wondering I don't know Jules are you using blue or it's like you're
8:44
using Frost today yeah so it's kind of funny the these are
8:49
are so they're between Frost and like they've got an opaque color I mean that's kind of what's really fun
8:56
about tiles in general is that you know they're so um Perfectly Imperfect right
9:03
right exactly um you really want the authenticness of
9:10
of the artist and that feeling you know that they're
9:15
on the floor or the wall so this is really fun I'm using my jewel
9:20
loom bead board and so we're working with six different colors and there's six different slots and so I'm filling
9:27
up all the different little slots I don't know Joan if you want to peek at that whoops oh yeah can we see
9:34
oh no let's see oh I don't know if she heard me yeah there we go yeah I see it yeah so cool yeah
9:42
and so a lot of people are they're so cute they're like um like you know whispering in code can
9:47
you tell me what that piece of cork is for and I'm like it's for your needle so
9:53
when you're not using it you put your needle into the cork just like that
9:59
so easy peasy pumpkin squeezy so okay that's all
10:07
thanks I should have brought mine up you sent me one of those a a circle shaped one I really like it okay yeah I think
10:13
there's an order in for a square too I have to double check on that but I'm almost positive
10:20
and so what I did here is I just from and I meant to actually do this from the um oh
10:25
move it over I meant to do it on the edge so on the edge most prong here so this one right here
10:32
just go ahead and tie yeah I'm going to tie just a little knot and make it pretty tight
10:37
so there's one part I'm going to do another so it's a double knot
10:47
and once you've got that then we'll start warping and I still have my thread on the spool I don't know if you guys do
10:53
the same that's usually how I how I like to start my because I don't know how
10:58
much thread I'm going to need so that's usually what what I do and then I'm going to come up and just
11:04
go through the second one because we only need 14 warps and there's 15 notches on the earring earring um
11:11
hearing Loom so when I come down here I kind of like hold it with my thumb and just do a turn
11:17
to get it to do that and this is important you don't want to go all the way around you want to make it so we can
11:22
do the pulley thing at the end I need a better name than poly thing for that
11:28
yeah yeah and and keep in mind that the idea with the earring Loom
11:35
um you know they're they're portable they're super duper lightweight
11:40
um and you know they're fairly easy to work with for sure but you know if you're it you can absolutely use your
11:48
original jewel loom I feel like somebody made that comment and I want to make sure that you do know that you can use
11:54
your original jewel loom you could even use your baby um and so and quite frankly whatever
12:00
other Loom you may have that I've designed um you can use that as well the thing with the earring
12:07
Loom is that there's not going to be like a lot of waste because it's literally making an earring and so you
12:15
know when you're thinking about the cost of your your beading thread or what have you um you're really not going to have a lot
12:22
of waste at all with the earring Loom exactly that was what I was thinking too
12:27
because the wildfire I use up so much Wildfire because yeah almost every everything you can relate I
12:36
am sure yeah I can definitely definitely on that
12:43
anywhere I can save I I always welcome that yeah
12:49
yeah I was um yeah I feel like gas went back up
12:58
here anyway we were having really crazy weather last week like it was super cold right yeah at least for you guys
13:05
um it did not um but man are the mountains so beautiful we have snow like oh you just
13:11
can't even imagine snowed at the beach really it snowed at the beach yeah it's
13:17
pretty crazy wow how far are you from are you near Ventura at all yeah
13:24
yeah I'm right here that's where my family is oh my gosh
13:29
and when when I still had my grandparents that's where they were that is so crazy same different last
13:36
name yeah yeah they're Maiden they're the
13:41
park family is my my maiden name oh okay well that's yeah that's
13:47
um yes so I'm a whining me girl but wine uh Ventura is right here
13:53
neat That's So Close yeah so nearby yeah I
13:59
um go to Ventura often and um
14:05
yeah because we're we all kind of just sit on top of each other in this County
14:11
okay I think I just managed to go through my first row but hopefully nothing falls out because I'm going to
14:16
be really fit down
14:22
and so what I did here after I made my my warps is I just went around it and I'm gonna just double check that I've
14:27
got 14. 2 3 4 5 6 7 10 11 12 13 14 and I was
14:35
pretty sure that would work out but I always count I've learned to count and I'm gonna make it really tight and
14:40
then I went around this Loop like a couple times and the reason I did that is because it's making it easier for me to do my knot because I have to do my
14:46
knot a little different on this side than I did on the starting side okay just because I don't have two strands to
14:53
pull through so I just kind of looped under like that with the tail and I'm just gonna bring it up here
15:06
how far down did you start from the top of the loom for your wefts
15:13
are your beads kissing up to to the right so when you started to
15:18
stitch I'm excited oh okay you're way down
15:25
awesome okay yeah so like
15:31
nice okay and I think I moved it around like as I
15:36
got going I just kind of just like slid it back and forth and stuff I I do Joan can you bring my overhead and not me up
15:48
okay so I slid this ruler underneath the warps
15:55
so I put the beads on the needle I I you know let them fall all the way down and
16:01
then I grabbed my ruler and I put my ruler right here and it popped those
16:06
little guys right up in between each warp and I was happier than a pig in mud I don't know if it's going to work each
16:13
and every time but it worked for me this time and um and so yeah
16:19
so you know I just am bringing this up because I know last week we were like first row was not like our friend oh my
16:27
gosh yes yeah so that's what I did and I had success and I'm super happy okay bye-bye
16:34
now that's a great idea I like that idea I've got a ruler next to me and I might do the same if I need it yeah I was
16:41
tripping out I was like oh I wonder if this will if this will work I might do it again let's see anyway okay I always
16:47
like um I don't always know like sometimes my attention's a little tighter sometimes it's looser but yeah
16:54
sometimes it just pops they just pop in right and there's no problem yeah um and so off camera what I'm doing
17:01
right now is I'm cutting my uh weft thread okay and I just did a wingspan it doesn't
17:06
take very much oh me too me too I did a dual spam I call it a jewels fan yeah I
17:12
feel like it's like more than I'll need but I'd rather have it I know I was kind of like uh but yeah it's always better
17:18
to have more
17:23
and just get that in there I didn't do my usual flatting with the chain nose pliers trick for this yet
17:30
uh-oh there we go yeah that was a I think that was why it
17:35
originally showed me that one time in a show and I just started laughing
17:41
it's a lifesaver it's really great yeah it's it's a total lifesaver
17:48
and so I'm just trying just first row of the pattern here which is just um it's actually symmetrical for top and
17:55
bottom so whatever you can start at the top or in the bottom you're gonna have the the same row yeah I work on the
18:01
bottom up do you do the same no I have always been a top to the bottom
18:07
yeah and I work with my loom straight up and down and I start with
18:13
um yep I start with the top and I work down where I do believe I do believe Trisha
18:19
is a works from the um
18:24
bottom up yeah that's cool yeah I don't know what
18:29
Joan does between Joan and ginger and Lord only knows oh
18:35
so that's a few of my type in there Joan what do you what do you um crazy girls
18:40
do do you do you work from the top or the bottom
18:48
so I'm finding that using my um my uh ruler for this second
18:55
row as being very helpful as well
19:01
did you use the ruler for oh yeah you started it that way and then I'm gonna see what happens yeah I had some luck I
19:08
just did it again we'll just try it the risers are uh they're amazing and
19:14
they're the perfect height oh okay good and so one of the things that I found
19:20
helped was if I was having any issues with my tension being too light which it looks like mine's mine's a smidge light
19:26
I did it as tight as I could but I grabbed this um tassel maker
19:33
oh I kept thinking to myself what is that thing that has my name on it that
19:38
she's using and now it's tight enough and the forever that's so funny the
19:44
tighter it's gonna get and then let's see if I have better like with my first row so it was
19:50
popping in there and then last but not least if I feel like I need it I'm going to grab that ruler because that's a brilliant idea there we go
19:58
I wonder if last week my tension just you know warping live I was just not like making it tight enough
20:05
you know I it's always good when things like that happen because yeah I mean we can learn from them and the people
20:11
watching and then you know but yeah I don't know okay so
20:16
you're going it's so funny that you go from the bottom but that's like you know that's like
20:22
with my um with uh that darn you know just like
20:27
what's that knot that always gives me trouble not which I'm teaching are you teaching that well I'm teaching
20:34
it in um for our February the um uh Aqua dye Jasper beaded bracelet
20:43
and so I thought oh well let's try to do a barrel knot for this project
20:49
love very much those are so pretty yeah I think it'll be fun I put like a piece
20:54
of um hemp in the kit and I think it'll be good
21:04
I think patterns are good for your brain I do too they're very soothing yeah it's
21:10
easy to make a mistake though yeah a couple mistakes just on the first ones that I made
21:15
my presence and mine lately it's if it's an indicator I feel like it's an indicator like when you make lots of
21:21
little errors oh yeah well you know rest is important I my
21:28
um I am still you know I'm and I probably will always work with somebody and uh I
21:37
had my was it what's today uh Thursday so day before yesterday I had my
21:45
um call with my Ministry coach who I I
21:50
don't even know that coach is the right word she just really helps to keep my
21:56
cookies all together it was so profound you know she was like
22:02
it's okay you don't always have to perform and I was just like you know because my
22:07
life in everything right it's not not doesn't even have to be like a literal
22:13
statement it's like a mental place yeah feeling like you have to be doing
22:24
yeah so I love the permission um to not have to that I can rest and just have faith and
22:31
uh so if that's a little nugget for somebody out there
22:38
it's okay I know I could use it that's for sure well there you go
22:43
there's your little nugget mama
22:49
okay I'm on row four I hope I'm over here jamming man I'm like I'm
22:55
loving this so much oh yeah yeah I do love looming it's it's one of
23:02
the first like things that got me so into seed beading yeah it's um I like how fast it is
23:11
yes oh my gosh that project that Jasper beaded bracelet I I had that thing
23:17
whipped up in like I I mean I'm I feel like I'm not exaggerating if I say under than 30 minutes because I was like wait
23:23
a minute how is this already done so and it looks like a million bucks so
23:29
I love that I really love that check it out I saw the text pop up right
23:35
when I was going to pick up um and so yeah I just used to watch it
23:40
just yet yeah I only did the um what you call it the warping I talked about the warping and
23:46
and um so then I still need to start the beading but I'm gonna do a different pattern this time so like I have one
23:54
done and then I talk about how I'm doing a different one too so okay so I can see where we need to stop
24:01
talking because I'm gonna screw it well I do have um I do have one ready to go
24:06
so we can jump ahead anytime okay just kind of going through the motions for in case anyone wants to see the process of
24:12
throwing a few rows on yeah for sure I wanna um we can finish we get this row done and then I'll come
24:19
back up too let's see
24:25
but yeah basically you would just keep going like this and once you've got it worked that's the like you're you're
24:31
sailing you've got it
24:37
and it looks like in my Row three here I forgot to put my yellow
24:43
let's see no worries I'll take that one yeah yeah but that's okay I knew you
24:50
would look I left the little yellow heat out and I just made it blue because I didn't need to be blue today
24:56
yeah I'm definitely into using this ruler it's really helping for everybody to pop up
25:03
yeah yeah I think it's a good idea
25:15
and on this one I had quite a bit of strand left here not too you know not too much but just enough
25:22
and then I was gonna bring down this earring and I was going to show
25:28
what I did for The Fringe oh it's so pretty and any of these beads or you don't need
25:34
to use like whatever beads you've got it doesn't have to be these another thing that I did is there's a little
25:40
attachment here to the loop at the top okay and so I would recommend making that
25:46
before you Stitch through it the ones that I made earlier and something to note about it
25:53
is if you're gonna do the exact configuration that I got going here you're gonna need it to be one of them
25:58
is facing forward and one of them is facing sideways kind of see how how it's like that so that it hangs like
26:05
that mmm gotcha gotcha Joan do you want to show my four
26:11
rows really quick show me show me oh pretty and you got the pattern right
26:18
because I didn't yeah right is that okay okay because I was like oh I gotta stop talking I can't
26:25
yeah so it's interesting with the darker nebula um and then the blue turquoise and then
26:32
I've also got the traditional turquoise um but oh my gosh I'm so stoked very
26:38
very cool hi Nicole so okay thanks Joan
26:49
awesome also um why don't I pop this one off the loom yeah yeah good morning get
26:54
the warps out of the way and then we can talk about how we made the uh little connection there with your wire and the
27:00
furniture really quick okay um so the first thing I'm going to want to do is get these knots loose from the um from
27:06
volume and so I'm just gonna trim those here
27:22
so I'll pull that
27:27
and I only trimmed the little knotted Loop part so these two warps here
27:32
are free but the rest of them they're still looped onto the machine machine notable Loom
27:39
the rest of them are still they're still intact they still have their Loops um I only cut the ones that were knotted that
27:44
were the very ends of those strands that we we tied uh and then now I'm just gonna free
27:50
these I just take my thumbnail and just come along pull them off
27:57
bring this down all right this is going to look super familiar to everyone who was with us
28:02
last week so I'm gonna grab some chain nose pliers really quick
28:10
suppose and so we get to see this part again
28:15
this part is always super fun
28:21
so I've got IU I work from the center and I've got this side this side I'm going to just separate out these from
28:28
these and find my Center one and I don't really have a center because the count is odd so I'm just gonna pick
28:34
one and go with it so let's just grab
28:40
this one here pull up and then at the bottom you'll just get
28:46
the loop just kind of going right there come to the bottom grab the next one
28:52
uh that's right you get to do this cool technique I love it
28:58
well this is so handy for something small like this because you wouldn't want to have to sit there and weave in
29:03
all you would what you'd want to do is knot them and put them in one of those tubes I think and I was testing the measure if you're
29:10
using Edo like I am for these the um the little slider the 24 millimeter sliders
29:16
that's yeah these guys right here yeah if you just taper down to 11 instead of 13 just by
29:22
maybe Square stitching 11. you can slide one of these on okay awesome sauce no fill right there
29:32
so yeah so I just realized that I was using
29:42
I should have been using my
29:47
corn flour I was using my blue turquoise so I'll have to switch that around
29:57
that'll still be really pretty I think yeah I don't think there's any mistakes [Laughter]
30:03
I'm just gonna like bless us with that uh
30:09
that right now I think that we are okay
30:14
I agree yeah I'm I didn't even worry about it when I make a mistake on my videos anymore I'm like yeah
30:27
trying to grab just on one strand there
30:49
this is where the tongue is hanging out of your mouth like when you're putting mascara on because you're trying to
30:55
concentrate I know when I keep hitting my camera I
31:01
hope if I'm making you guys seasick I apologize oh I didn't even notice
31:10
and almost there almost got it done
31:16
make that one a little tighter let me pull here there we go
31:25
last one so what you end up with are these two super super long warps at the top which
31:32
are the the side that I decided would be The Fringe side because I had that extra
31:37
thread to work with down here just actually my top right now but um
31:43
yeah just whatever side you end up with having those two super see how long these are just keep going those are your
31:49
Fringe strands and then you can use your leftover or I guess you could call it the end where
31:56
and starting left here or beginning or start to do the connection at the top so why don't you do the
32:01
connection at the top really quick and we'll get as far as we can with The Fringe before
32:10
let's see yes we appreciate you and your time so very much because
32:15
you've got so much going on we got a big show tomorrow on Michael's
32:20
oh yeah thanks for bringing that up I wanted to see if anyone's interested in coming it's I'm kind of nervous for like
32:27
like just between you me and the fishes like I would rather do the most complicated
32:33
project on the planet than yeah answer questions I don't know what they're exactly going to be yet so yeah
32:44
no you have the answers it's so funny though I'm such a nerd
32:49
when it comes to stuff like that like I don't want to talk I just want to play with the beads okay
32:57
and so from here I just put a needle I put a needle on um on the leftover weft thread that I had
33:04
here at the side that doesn't have the super long works because again we're going to use those for our Fringe and just up here I'm just going to make this
33:11
connection um this connection here
33:17
so just gonna go ahead and weave back over so on the side you have the the
33:23
side warp just look at where your threads hanging out here mine's on this side of it so I'm going to jump over it
33:29
and go back this way and then exit from
33:35
one of the three middle beads there
33:42
we go and so then I'm going to pick up a the colors that
33:47
I like just a couple here and here's that that finding I made earlier
33:53
and again it's got the like one side's facing and one one side so the ear wire will go
33:59
in the right direction so let's see I'm going to make the front pie this one
34:04
go through it let's grab this color
34:10
and that color slide that all down so so far so good
34:16
now I'm going to jump over the middle bead which is this uh this bead here we'll jump over this one
34:21
and let's go through this one bring that down
34:28
from here I'm going to go back up just through this bead and the reason I want to do that is so that it will hug this
34:34
bead right here I needed to hug this one and then I'm going to go through here
34:42
hmm
34:50
you on it how do you get rid of mute how do you get rid of mute
34:58
okay oh my goodness I'm so sorry Jules no I'm
35:06
Danielle seriously like not even remotely an issue no okay thank you so
35:11
much got it oh my God I love it are you kidding me
35:17
this is what the beads are for right here I mean and this is just where we're at
35:22
like when you're working from home and you're raising kids and
35:28
you know like this is just reality they're usually like um it's so weird
35:33
they're usually a little like less difficult we're having kind of one of those I would say years because it started
35:40
sort of after January I don't know hard to say when it really started but we're going through a new phase I'm not like
35:47
I'm I was unprepared for the uh they're getting older how old are they now
35:53
um seven going on eight and nine going on ten yeah and the biggest struggle of my life right now is the that's the
36:00
video games it's the screen time and yeah they um they time out after they've been playing for more than two hours
36:06
which is a very generous amount of screen time my other parents don't give their kids two hours so I hear okay yeah
36:12
like so they've been playing now since we got home from school and it just turned out and I've told them okay we're
36:17
gonna go do something else if once it time's out but they won't take it out for an answer and they're in here just like they're so addicted to it that they
36:24
can't yeah you can't turn that off right yeah so I met my wits and I don't even know what to do it's like should I take
36:30
it away entirely um that doesn't make sense because they need to be part of the modern world
36:35
right the modern world is all internet all like yeah but they but I would definitely agree that there has to be
36:41
moderation just because it I think it's sometimes over stimulates their brain too you know and they need downtime and
36:49
um so I would think that um you know maybe
36:57
taper off a little bit agreed I agreed that's what you're trying to do yeah is it two hours like
37:04
straight or is it two hours radically it's like cumulative so like we'll let
37:11
them play for two hours at any time they'd like to use that two hours is up to them yeah
37:17
um and then if they want more they have to request a screen screen time okay and the only way to do that well so
37:24
my youngest he's um he's really clever he discovered he can get my iPad and do that uh which is why he wanted my iPad
37:31
earlier yeah they're so smart yeah they're so smart well definitely like you know I mean
37:39
interrupting mom gets um yeah gets 10 minutes taken away and
37:46
that's where I need to actually like yeah come up with that chance get that on the refrigerator like here is your
37:51
allotted time per day and here's what happens here's how the deductions happen
38:01
and so there's you know x amount of time is taken away when they act up when they
38:07
don't listen when they interrupt mom whatever their things are just kind of
38:13
come up with this how it's going to work for reals yeah yeah that's what you
38:19
gotta do yeah you just tell them Auntie call you after I'm like okay yeah call me after and you can you can I got this
38:27
I'm telling you there are things that are way harder than beating that's why I'm like I load the beads yeah it takes
38:33
a village to raise these kids it so does yeah and they're not gonna like you know
38:38
you're not gonna go to Mommy Jill because you're being you know you're being a mom with boundaries you have to
38:44
be so I know right yeah yeah you're good I like that idea though
38:51
take come up with a subtractions chart they're gonna say you know what they're
38:56
visual right so they're they're they need to see like this is how it's going
39:01
to start and then if you do the following things this is what's gonna be taken away
39:08
for sure yeah I'm seeing lots of great comments too oh good I agree nobody's
39:14
like putting me in mommy gel are they no everyone's saying they're I'm reading what Becky wrote trust me to let them
39:19
play for long yeah then they also like can't fall asleep and stuff but no it's horrible it's
39:26
horrible for us and I am guilty of trying to lose myself sometimes at night
39:32
into looking at things because I don't want to think anymore and it's really really bad it's just really really bad
39:40
um yeah so learn how to be vigils and Danielle and
39:46
also how to parent and meeting is easier and beating is
39:51
easier Joan bring in the wine
39:59
and Joan and ginger are just cracking up because they're like they're loving this
40:05
I don't know Ginger's not even here but yet Joan it's almost like you have a double personality or something
40:11
[Laughter] she's shaking her head it's like ginger
40:17
is a part like you're part of your appendage or something so true well I'm gonna just go ahead and
40:22
reinforce this really quick um I went through all those beads and just came out of this one I'm just gonna go through this one and
40:30
um all three actually okay just to make it stronger I mean basically you're just stitching
40:36
just stitching yeah it's all kind of it's all off Loom from here on yeah but
40:42
super easy but if you're loving these tiles I just
40:48
did um some peyote versions a bunch of them and they're going to be an April class
40:54
oh my God okay foreign
41:12
and I'm using that usual like Stitch down where you just pick up one of the warp threads
41:21
the top one is what I'm aiming for here so just trying to get those warps right
41:27
and it really really makes weaving in nice and you don't have to do any
41:33
knotting and I apologize I don't remember where I
41:39
picked up this tip it was probably like on YouTube or something but um I've seen it a few places now and
41:46
it's such a great like life-changing tip for me I used to try try to um
41:51
do little half hitch knots yeah or I would just weave back and forth and
41:56
back and forth but inevitably like my um my throated poke out somewhere
42:04
all right so there's that got that all good I'm gonna trim it really quick
42:11
top is done okay so then you know eventually you'd like
42:17
you'd put in you put like an ear wire on there but down here at the bottom I'm gonna
42:23
grab my one of my long strands whichever one not sure which one I want to do yet so
42:29
let's start with the leftover weft because I've already got a needle on it that's a win you know what I do is like I'll start
42:36
this process and then before I trim anything just in case I need it like I'll leave all these
42:43
threads in place and then right at the end once I've got all of my um The Fringe done and everything so this
42:50
is the mix that came in one of your kits and I forgive me I don't remember was it January or is it December yeah and then
42:57
it's sold separately online it's the frost oh okay so you can still get it yay I'm
43:02
so glad oh yeah definitely it caught my eye and I'm gonna try copying it I did over here oh thank you
43:12
yeah it's gorgeous I use the seed beads that are in it so I
43:17
grabbed one of my colors and then I grabbed one of these and I'm just copying what I did here
43:23
um just grab a small bead and then one of these to turn
43:28
and for anyone that hasn't done Fringe before it's super easy the only difference that I'm doing here between
43:34
this and what you might have is that the um which you might have seen before
43:40
is we don't have a bead where the whole side's facing down or we can just go back up to the same one so I'm going to hug this bead ah gotcha
43:48
the same way we were doing all this up here so we just come back up through
43:55
this bead here and then I'm gonna go back in the other direction through it so the threads
44:00
coming out one side going back through it the other direction
44:05
and we'll just do that a bunch of times on every other so there's one
44:15
and you'll probably if you're starting from exactly where I am you'll be facing a different direction so meaning you're
44:21
heading this way when you want to go this way so to turn all I did was just went up through this one
44:29
and I'm going to come down through the next so let me show you really quick on this other one I skipped every other bead
44:40
for a total of seven is that seven
44:45
looks like seven there and then in any pattern any pattern you want that
44:52
I just kind of like that pattern so from here I'm exiting from this remember
44:57
I came up through this room to this white bead so I'm going to do that same little trick I'm gonna grab my my warp threads
45:05
to get down where I want to be
45:14
I'm going to go through that bead the one that I want to put my Fringe on and let's start the next one so this
45:21
next one I started with a blue and then I went to a limestone
45:29
and then I did another one of these white ones and I went with this a little bit bigger bead like like one of the
45:34
Saturns let's see if you've got any Saturns left is that oh those are yeah that's I love those
45:40
those are so pretty okay I'm loving this pattern I'm over here just like jamming
45:48
definitely the ruler is helping big time yeah
45:54
yeah okay so and this color palette um is working out
46:00
really really well oh good
46:13
there's that one and there may have been a more expeditious thread path than the one I'm
46:18
doing like for example if I'd started with this one I'd head that direction or something but they're all gonna work
46:25
just weaving around to get where I want to be and I'm gonna try to tighten that up a
46:30
little bit there we go
46:38
so I was actually thinking I might send this this pair to my aunt the one that lives near you because these are her
46:44
style she will love these God if you ever find yourself down here
46:50
you better make sure you let it yeah I need to go down and um like also my sister-in-law lives in
46:56
Burbank I know that's not close especially close I think it's close
47:01
yeah the kids want to go to Disneyland too oh yeah
47:07
okay lots of reasons to head that way yeah so when you do you just let me know
47:12
and I'll I'll be the one to come to you or whatever because I know with the kids
47:17
it'll be a little more challenging but that'd be so awesome oh
47:22
okay
47:32
I want to get these done because I'm going um so since it's not raining
47:38
um meeting some girls tomorrow in West Lake Westlake Village which you might be familiar with I know where that is yeah
47:45
so um there's a really cool place at the Hyatt uh property it's called Stonehouse
47:50
and it's so good
47:55
it's really good that sounds familiar yeah that's a
48:01
higher property so I I think it's not actually super far
48:06
from is that anywhere near like uh kind of like Canoga Park area so Canoga would be
48:13
like you know for further south but it's like Agora West like Thousand Oaks
48:19
it's when you go up the hill going up the hill yeah
48:28
I was born in Canoga Park that's where oh my gosh are you kidding me all the craziness started oh my God that's so
48:35
cool so you're a SoCal girl I didn't even realize that well yeah I ended up in Seattle I don't
48:42
know how that happened but
48:47
I always joke I got enough sun in my first 18 years of life to cover me for the
48:53
rest of it that's so funny and I like my son
49:03
I'm missing the Jersey Shore though that's for sure so that's where you're from originally
49:09
no I'm born and raised California we um uh we lived in Jersey
49:16
um for 14 years I think it was and um and then
49:22
and then Josh's father and I um separated and and so
49:27
uh uh I stayed for a hot minute and then I
49:33
ended up coming back I actually it pit stopped in Arizona so I I stayed there for almost a year
49:41
and was working uh for my girlfriend's company spellbinders the die Cutting Company yeah so Stacy is
49:49
one of my my besties and so I was helping her launch into the jewelry world with die cutting
49:56
and then I was working with them on cakes they had come up with it yeah they came
50:03
up with a nice machine that could cut fondant and so um that was
50:08
really fun and and then I was like why am I in the desert I'm a beach girl and
50:14
so I packed everything up and came back here and
50:19
and I think I've been home I think I've been here for eight years now
50:25
um Josh is still in Jersey so that's obviously a big part of my heart is there oh yeah my boy
50:36
kids though is when they're with you they're like they're kind of driving you nuts uh then when they're not with you you're
50:43
like I miss them so much it's been two years and let me tell you the fact that Josh will be 32 years this year is like
50:50
bizarre like I can't even I don't even know how it happened so it happened because there's a lot of
50:58
things and I could just tell you it shifts it just changes like it's going to be
51:03
this and then it's going to change and my biggest advice is always be available
51:10
for them especially when they get older because the decisions they make and choices they make when they're older are
51:17
bigger and could lead to bigger problems right so when they're
51:24
younger and they're nagging and they're a pain in the ass it's kind of like you know you just kind
51:30
of set your boundaries and stuff like that um but
51:36
you know like I was the high school mom I I made my hours available to always pick everybody up and take them to get
51:43
things because High School I think is really when Junior Highs but even Junior High
51:49
now like you know so it does shift
51:54
no that's totally true I can see how how it happens it's the same way the last few years happened yeah I don't know
52:01
where those went they're just like really quick super super quick well that
52:08
is holy cow that just went together really quick right what you're doing so they are I have quite a bit of
52:15
weaving in to do but that's the gist of it right there wow that's fantastic oh my God they're just gorgeous Danielle I
52:21
just can't I'm so excited I'm so excited you know what's really stinking cool about this too is that if
52:28
you're not an earring wearing person y'all like that can be a pendant
52:33
oh yeah that can be a panda and you're just going to put it on to like some sorry Ribbon or even some silver silk
52:41
and um so there's an option here like if
52:47
you're like that's really awesome but I don't wear earrings I mean you can make them for somebody but I'm also seeing a
52:53
really cool pendant yeah I I mean I want everybody to know
53:01
that they can definitely um wear this because it's so like my pattern right now is just my color
53:07
combinations really pretty well I mean it's off of yours I'm just
53:12
like I'm staring at it and I'm like oh look at it it's so pretty oh neat do you have so you have it off
53:18
the loom yet or is it still I don't know I'm down let's see let me finish this row and then I'll wait do you have more
53:24
you're still working let me finish this row and then I'll tell Joan to come and show mine really quick
53:30
I'm just gonna weave in then real quick while we're while we're hanging out so we can have a finished one
53:35
okay these are going to quickly find homes
53:40
I'm gonna have two pairs here two degrees
54:02
now I'm just tightening up things I didn't like from before so anything that I feel like needs an extra something I'm
54:08
just doing here
54:19
foreign so let's see this little connection here
54:25
in the center I just want to straighten it all out so that's what I'm doing now I'm just weave it around
54:31
this is the perfectionism moment of Designing yeah
54:37
but it's kind of the secret sauce to be totally honest with you because my stuff doesn't always instantly look
54:43
great before I do all these little tweaks right
54:49
so you turn pretty hard to make them perfect the first time but I get that right maybe 25 of the time yeah
54:56
yeah well we do our best yeah last one oh my gosh I didn't think we
55:04
would have like the whole finished thing yeah it's so um
55:09
oh great idea um Becky is saying and make a cool keychain charm I've totally
55:14
seen that I love that
55:20
okay to see it like on a leather bag you know that would be really cool here's mine
55:27
oh you got it I have four more rows to weave
55:33
yay oh your colors are great I love those yeah it's really kind of interesting it's the same
55:40
it's it's you know in the same family that you have you know but it different
55:46
right like a little bit different tones yeah no I'm
55:51
too I'm totally stoked with it I'm like so happy I love them and I am really really
55:57
loving working with the Edo's for a pattern I mean that's that makes life really easy isn't it
56:04
refreshing it's like oh my gosh this is gonna be way faster yeah crazy thing from last week
56:09
oh good thank you Maria yeah I'm really loving this I really am
56:16
so you know what I think it's fun yeah I think what's fun too is like I don't
56:22
know that I would necessarily well what do I want to say here I'm down with
56:28
wearing two tile earrings that don't necessarily match oh me too yeah yeah
56:35
so keep that in mind y'all when you're making these because okay let me get this harsh light off my
56:42
face so I don't scare everybody and then
56:47
Joan if you want to bring I guess both of us back up
56:53
[Laughter] and then let me just I got him back on
56:58
yeah let me see I could have three I'm so excited about this one it came
57:04
out nice oh my gosh it's so beautiful they're just really
57:11
they're so unique and so fun yeah I love that I like the way that
57:17
bead looks this um I don't even know what to call that bead it looks like a tulip doesn't it kind of let me see
57:23
um a little tulip bead the longest one oh yeah it's like a little oblong egg I've never seen um
57:33
yeah yeah it's so funny it's like a little a little tulip cut into it oh it does well
57:39
it kind of looks like it has leaves and then like a center oh okay I don't know I've just I've never seen
57:46
that before and it was just here in this pretty mix and so I just went to town with it there's some really cool beads in those
57:53
yeah they're like five dollars a bag like they're ridiculously reasonably priced so
57:58
yeah oh wow yeah super cute I know yeah super cute super very cool I know all of
58:05
a sudden I feel like I'm sitting on you how'd you make me so like large oh it's because my so my camera is
58:12
exactly because I got off rigmarole in between me and my moderate oh that's so
58:17
funny on my monitor I've been trying to make that work and also it's up so it looks like I'm not looking at people and
58:22
I I know I have so much to work on yeah no it's beautiful I feel like I'm like all
58:29
came in like a you know Wrecking Ball let me back up
58:34
oh thanks for saying that I was like I mean seriously yell like we're doing the clips today the clips are desperate moments for me like oh I love that I do
58:42
I'm not gonna feel really happy no you have the whole you have the whole uh it's Audrey Hepburn yeah yeah that whole
58:50
vibe today I love it so just yeah just you know what get that refrigerator you
58:56
should and then share it because I bet there are mommies and dads out there who would appreciate that kind of help
59:03
knowing like here's what I'm doing with my kids um video time oh for sure you know we
59:10
could all use all the help in all areas of life I feel like even just sharing like guess
59:17
what this is happening all the time you're not alone might just be enough for everybody like because I don't think I
59:23
have solid advice yet it's just more like well here's what I tried that didn't work
59:28
yeah I can always do a channel like that yeah and Danielle there are so many moms
59:33
and dads that are working from home these days so oh yeah you know they're they're all deal and so many people are
59:40
homeschooling so it's so great to like share um how you know when Josh was a little I
59:47
don't really we didn't have this right like isn't that weird like just 30 years ago
59:53
20 years ago you know this whole social media kind of I don't really feel like
59:59
it was that um it wasn't like it is now so like when he was colicky you know I
1:00:05
wanted to die you know when I had postpartum I had no clue like nobody was
1:00:11
talking about these things there was nowhere to share this kind of stuff so
1:00:16
you know you have this beautiful platform where we can also true chime in we have Facebook like group stuff yeah
1:00:24
all these things I'm super grateful for it yeah and it's so interesting how I just I forget about life before all that
1:00:30
like I went to college with a flip phone yeah and so this is all new it's all
1:00:36
yeah amazing no I remember driving around town like I think right after I graduated high school with the phone in
1:00:43
the bag to me from a phone in a bag do you
1:00:48
remember the Miami Vice sat phones those like big bricks that cost like so much money and they just would cut out if you
1:00:53
went under like me like ridges oh my God and stuff and it wasn't it just wasn't
1:00:59
that long ago you know and we're so Advanced but yet you know and now it's like information
1:01:05
and and so yeah I I think it's great I think it's me too oh yes and thank Joan
1:01:13

1:01:20

1:01:27

1:01:33

1:01:39
um thank you for giving birth to the earrings um you know to these little looms are
1:01:45

1:01:50
that's Danielle's baby right there that's what we should put on there Daniel's baby that's what we call them
1:01:57

1:02:03

1:02:09

1:02:15
um a busy time I think yeah sort of I'm gonna be at creativation yes that's what it was yeah
1:02:22
I don't know if anybody's in the Columbus area or if you're planning to go to creativision but I'm going to be at the booth if you want to stop by and
1:02:28

1:02:45
yeah yeah yeah you should totally tell people about that because they'll want to come
1:02:50
and learn from you like hands down like they'll want to come learn because that is a is that that's a trade show right
1:02:57
it's still a trade show right um this was my first time going and I I
1:03:03
know that it's different than like the Tucson gem show it's something different yeah like it's the but I'm so clueless
1:03:08
yeah I'm pretty sure it's the old Shaw the old acci the old Crofton hobby I do
1:03:15
believe it's called creativation now and it's a trade show so you're gonna have like the trade but I could be wrong and
1:03:22
there could be a time for consumers um but I think that it is I think that
1:03:29
sounds right like I don't think there's anything for sale it's just like to show off what's new or I mean they just said
1:03:34
hey come play with beads with us and I'm like okay no you need to do that you need to I'm sure Ann um is going to be there in
1:03:42

1:04:54
