oh boy okay well you'll get the chest i was good i was
hoping to like maybe copy it you can start it that's kind of cool
anyway i hope everyone's having um a great monday and this wasn't necessarily scheduled
but promised my shopify um and new new bestie was
like i want you to i want you to do something every day and i was like
i'm gonna try so it's so you know amongst all the other
things right but it is really what i love to come on and to share and and to talk to everybody
i will say that i love our workshop zooms because that's when we're all on the screen
and can actually see each other's faces and and have conversation and it's just
so sweet so oh cool it looks like joan got in
so anyway um i just wanted to peek peek on big day big day today is the day i
became a mama like well let's see 30 josh turned 31 today
can you even believe that for those of you that um watched me back in the alien's creative living days he
was just a little boo and um he used to come on to the set with tiffany and i
and um he fell asleep in her arms one time it was so stinking cute so so cute
but uh uh so yeah so very big very big birthday i'm gonna go back to
muting this one and tell me if you can hear me so yeah so his
his birthday is today and um
that did not help i don't quite understand what i did last time to make my voice go away
but anyway i'm gonna un undo myself there joan that was really tricky of you and
thank you for like jumping in i didn't tell anyone i didn't tell joan i didn't tell amber i'm like the crazy uh
crazy woman at the helm here just going rogue
but that's okay um i love that name helena see i i think i could get certain names
out of my mouth because of my being raised around my portuguese
grandparents you know when they would speak portuguese and so i really think that has something to do
with my enunciation issues with some some words but like i look at
helena and that comes out really naturally
it just is what it is but anyway yeah so my son's birthday is today uh big 3-1 i
cannot even believe where the time has gone um just amazing young man i'm so proud of
him he does such really great work and so i just want to give him
a really big shout out and uh and wish him a happy birthday i know that they were back east
cooking dinner and uh it was some form
some form some version of chicken parmesan um and there were no noodles involved so
i don't know i definitely miss cooking for him i used to cook for him quite often and so
i do miss that but anyway so um yeah so i just wanted to get on and um hey becky
and say hello to everyone and and to review the starter kit once again these
have already been hugely popular with everyone and so if you haven't seen it what i did
um was put together a starter kit with the original jewel loom and it does come
with the metal rod so always make sure that metal rod is in your package like no matter where you
pick up your loom obviously if you purchase it from me directly
then i actually adjust the rod as well i'll take it out of the package and address
adjust it if it doesn't look quite right to my eyeballs and the baby jewel loom comes with it
and the needle six pack of needles um you get a hundred decorative beads czech
gloss beads they're absolutely gorgeous so there's there's the bracelet i'm working
on right now i'm also including the hem and a decorative wood button it's probably
going to be the daisy just had a bunch of those made and uh what else oh and i did decide to
go ahead and cut a couple yards of wildfire for you that way if you live on the top of a mountain
somewhere and you don't want to fuss with finding
beading thread you'll have what you need to get started so i'm super excited about this i've
priced it at 24.99 which is like an amazing
deal and so if you're looking for a gift if you're looking to get started with bead
weaving it is the perfect combination to do that with i've been on a couple of times
showing how to make the bracelet but if you go over to the blog
at jewelroom.com look for the awareness
video collection i think there's like five of them it's going to talk about product
this was a video i did i think back in 2016 2017 but it's the same concept so
don't be like oh my gosh i didn't get all that product of course you didn't that's not what you bought so
um that's from back ago i just want to give you like as much tutorial as i can
so that's a super awesome how to again go to jeweloom.com go to the blog and look for
the awareness videos and that's going to show you how to do everything and then of course right here on the youtubes
um i i have like part one i don't think i called it part one though but we'll have
to correct that so you know that um you know it shows you how to get started there too but really the
awareness video cuff series is hands down awesome sauce like i had
all the awesome cameras and everything it was so cool
not that this isn't cool that my iphone is like in my face i guess it's me pretending to have a podcast which i
should do a podcast i just don't know why on what topic
so throw your topics my way on what you would like me to talk about
because i do think i could do a good podcast because i like to talk all right robin hi jules i ordered my
kit and i love them i haven't gotten the chance to leave anything up but i'm excited oh good so did you hear me robin
so you go you'll go to the jewelroom.com website and you'll go to the blog
and you're going to look for the awareness video cuff series i think there's five videos
and it's going to talk about a kit it's not this kid it's a kid i did like
2016. so just ignore that language just pay attention to how to warp your loom and
all that good stuff okay good yay oh and jones got it up there
so i don't know why it says craft hangover it's a url i own and i think i
was going to be funny and now i can't figure out how to remove it but i think it's kind of cute and maybe
this time together should be our craft hangover time together
oh man if you're in okay let me just see if i missed anything robin that's so cool you're gonna love this because it's super easy
wanda is in new mexico sweet do you know that that's one state i've not been to and that's like
probably from what i understand one of the most artistic
states right isn't it real artsy and cool and i i i don't know if we ever
um i don't know if we ever drove through that state when we were hopping around
back in the day so but i don't recall ever being there or having stayed so
um that sounds like a good spot oh and bonnie from hawaii did you get your large wisdom warrior
i can't wait to hear all about that okay so yeah so i um i think the the big reason
in addition to my son's birthday which i i can't read it now because my phone's
up there but his girlfriend sent me a message and i'm gonna cry just even thinking about it but she was
she was like wishing me a happy birthday right for the day of becoming a mom and then
i mean it was so heartfelt i just like even right now i just want to cry because i just thought that was so so
incredibly special that she would recognize that and that she was like wishing me a good day
so she's a keeper oh good bonnie i'm so happy i i wrapped
her really tight for you and so um so there's a large wisdom warrior in hawaii now and so i still
need to get that united states map because i'd like to see where all the looms are and actually it's not just the
us right it's abroad so i need a world map can we get a world map
but um yeah so in addition to josh's birthday and all of that awesome sauce we've got
the starter kit robin uh is super stoked she got one
she's going to get ready to start using it and bonnie just got the large wisdom warrior
and uh oh and the silver silk looms are back in stock and that's going to be my next little
thing i really need to get on here and show you that but the girls trisha and amber are going to be on thursday
four o'clock pacific standard time they're going to be streaming into the facebook page and the youtubes
and um trisha did a bracelet on the silver silk loom
and it is to die for so make sure you turn tune in so you can support trisha and amber
and joan is there as well she's like makes all the magic happen and all the words show up
okay so here's one that i'm gonna need some help is it i l
or is the i is the eye silent lianya
lianya you're going to tell me how to say it like when we're in kindergarten do the
anyway hopefully you'll tell me how to say your name properly i like to learn names and say them
properly i'm real um when i tell people jules
you know what they do right they s how they spell it and and they go to do a j-u-l-e-s and i'm like
i don't think so it's j-e-w-e-l-s like sparkle
like come on oh good joan jones got that
oh that's so cute uh christian ross actually did an entire
video robin on um knitting she knitted
you know what i have a bunch of stuff laying on it but she knitted a scarf on one of the larger looms
so um that was pretty cool that was really cool
so yeah um so here so what i really want to tell you about is the new giveaway that we're doing every single week and
it does have something to do with the starter kit so
from thursday to wednesday night at midnight
pacific standard time so that's california time
if you um when you sign up for the newsletter you are automatically entered into a
chance to win a starter kit okay
so how cool is that like it's a big retail value of like forty dollars so
um every week so you have to make sure that you like the jewel loom
page the fake the facebook jewel loom and you wanna like uh no you subscribe
on the youtubes you sign up
right for the newsletter and you're going to be entered into
the realm of uh this the free giveaway and it's gonna
happen every week so it's gonna go from thursday to wednesday night at midnight
all right and so we have all the things in place to
figure out who has signed up for the newsletter the other super stinking cool thing about this is that once you sign
up for the newsletter it unlocks
in order to have access to all the sell items right you're going to sign up for the
newsletter so signing up for the newsletter is going to unlock a plethora
of fun and deals and awesomeness okay
and i and i don't sell i do not sell your let your name i'm not going to um
bore you with a bunch of things that are irrelevant like if i email it's literally because there's
a reason okay if there's something going on there's a project idea the girls are doing their thing on the youtubes um
there's a deal last weekend was it i can't remember now weekend before i did
i did the buy two five millimeter packages and get one
free oh my heck that was like they were gone okay so that kind of
thing i'm not you know and then you also have the opportunity to sign up for the
sms which the sms is completely different than my community text
my community texting that we've been talking about forever and a day is more about education it's how i
connect with my workshop students and it's a group of people that just
want to have that connection customer service there they have an issue um
with their warping they want to talk so that is totally different the sms is
traditional retail texting
and so periodically you might get a text from that saying i mean
i've seen companies use it for like flash cells or maybe they're going to offer free
shipping or you know so it's um i'm going to show this
so this number right here y'all this is the community this is where we
gather and it's all about education and communication
and it's relationship building that number right there okay
but the sms is traditional retail marketing
you sign up for that you get stuff on your phone i'm not going to be hounding you trust me i don't hound
um i mean if i use it once a week
somebody buy me a cake because i really don't know like i'm i'm really into your privacy and i only
email and text if i really have something to say so i don't want you to be worried about that
and that's also in the sign up process basically you sign up for the traditional email and then it asks you
like would you like to be on the sms and you can say no
it's all right or you can say yes so it's all good but again i don't sell any of your info
i don't sell your info i don't spam you i don't tell you things that are silly i tell you things that i think
you would like to know like specials like hey buy two get one free that was crazy in fact i had to like stop it
because i forgot to count right and i almost didn't have enough to go around
so that was funny okay so i'm going to try to flip the camera here just to kind of give you a
couple um rows of weaving so let me let's see
overhead okay how does that look
i think i'm gonna move this in a little it might look like it's gonna get my face but that's okay
there we go does that look okay except for it's cutting my face off so i'll exit
and we'll just have that okay good that way you don't have that crazy
crazy thing and then you know what let me put some light on the subject oh whoa that looks good
so this is the um this is what i did last visit and so i had warped
the loom and i'll bring in the one that i worked
and so we'll go back and make sure that we put part one to the deluxe
starter kit so that you know what to watch first
and i had already started to weave and i'm going to come back over here
okay so at this point i have my needle in my left hand
and the loom is in front of my body all right
don't think i can get a bigger screen there we go maybe that's a little better
okay so at this point i'm going to take the needle and thread i'm going to pass it under the warps
and i'm going to take it with my right hand and i'm going to get some of these things out of the way i seem to have
collected a bunch of stuff and i'm going to pick up three beads
so again we'll refer to this as part two because warping the loom
and um [Music] getting started is in a video already on
the youtube and we'll share that to the facebook as well
and then we're just going to let those fall and you see how i help to guide the wildfire
and then i'll pop that up into the warps
and then i'm going to take the needle and go back through that hole and the needle is gliding on top of the warp
threads okay so you want to make sure that that needle is on top of the warps
and then i'm going to pull and you see how i always have one hand
on the loom if you want to you can work on a non-skid
surface working on something like the bead mat
bead mat is always very helpful the jewel loom the original jewel loom
is a portable loom made out of a flexible
plastic so it's definitely got a wiggle you know
it doesn't it weighs i don't even know like a couple ounces
so it's not really heavy and so therefore you know it's definitely going to move but again
can you see how i i laid my hand down on the loom
took my pointer and pressed up on that row of beads so it's like i'm working the loom
with the different parts of my hand to help it stays stable
so again i'm going to take and go through the hole the needle is gliding on top of those
warps and then i'm just very carefully pulling the thread
and then once again i'm going to come under and probably the hardest part is picking
the beads [Laughter] just because they're all so beautiful and then you're trying to like you know
make sure that you kind of have them spaced out a little bit but don't take it too serious this is a fun
a fun bracelet and it's gonna pop and people are gonna love it it's gonna go with
so many different looks you know you could do your shabby chic look maybe a super soft sweater
a pair of jeans maybe you're going on a cruise
right wearing with your hot pants i think it would look beautiful with a
sundress as well so okay let's see oh let's do this one
let's do this one oh this one's super pretty and so we're just gonna let that fall
again you can see how i'm helping to guide all of that wildfire
now i'm a big wildfire fan i've been using it forever um prior to forever i
actually used fishing line so that's really funny but um you know there are
um other beading threads uh what's that one i always get the name wrong and i love it so i'm embarrassed to say that i
get the name wrong the um super g um or g want g
gosh i don't want to slaughter the name because it's such good stuff i should know it by heart
but i do use wildfire pretty much ten times out of ten um but you know there's
other beading threads that you've certainly one g see it's like
it's mega mega g i don't know okay bonnie says one g and she's
absolutely right now that stuff is not it's not inexpensive it definitely is on the
pricier side um and they're little bobbins and it's not the namo um but it's also a
product from japan so you know it's fabulous but yeah i like that too and then um the
soft flex is soft flex that has a beading
a beading thread or material like a
watch collie what's it called a thermal bond kind of product
i'm not sure of its how it's made up but anyway you know i do use wildfire but you can
absolutely use um you know your your beading thread of choice
so hopefully you kind of get an idea of how like i'm constantly rotating
my hands to keep it still you know to keep it in position
i think it's tricia that has a favorite map that she refers to oh and contact
paper right the stuff you line your um your shelves with i think it's called
contact paper beadsmith has fireline okay that's what
it is beadsmith has fireline beadalon has wildfire
so now when you're building your bracelet you're just going to continue to make
the rows um i have a six inch um wrist
and so that's typically with a six millimeter bead that's about 25 rows
but what you want to do is measure it with a sewing tape measure um it doesn't have to be a sewing tape
measure but because it's flexible i do really enjoy working with one
okay so we need some more of this color and so yeah so you would just you know you just keep on keeping on right you
keep um keep doing your rows and once you get your rhythm down this is the type of
bracelet that you definitely can get done um and you know under a
an hour not a minute but an hour
okay so let me get my i thought i have my finished one i think it's behind me hold
on really quick there you are
so this is the um this is the finished bracelet right here
and so the hem comes in your kit the beads
such a cute little daisy i'm gonna do something to
to um make that like a little knot like a little i might even do like a little white glue
and just kind of drape all this around and stuff itself just make sure that it is a white glue that dries clear of
course you know i'm a little leans fan so um and you can you know you can use colored
pencils on these buttons you can i know trish is a big fan of the vintaj vintaj product
um stains acrylic paint i would stay away from water-based
um paints because it is baltic birch and so you don't want it to get too too wet
but um also let me see i've been wanting to try the jewel loom
i like this style just hesitate yes
i totally understand um the finishing hesitation but really hold on one sec
because i want to show you so you all are getting a sneak peek at
um so the workshop for may i had a rose button designed for the
workshop so i colored this one in and then i put mod podge over it
and then on this one i just i didn't color it in i just used whoops let me
i just put um you know to give it that shine
so they're really fun to um to do things with but yes to your point about finishing
that is why i really love the technique with the hemp because the hemp and you know the tying
of the knots and adding the button this is really really the most easiest peasiest
way to um to finish you know you could sew on
um a clasp and those directions are in my book let me show you that really quick hold on let's see
so this this right here would be a good example of sewing on
a clasp and so you know you could do that it's a little more time consuming
but it certainly is one of the prettier ways right to finish your to finish your bracelet i mean this is
just a very simple um friendship bracelet
and then i added an antique you know clasp and it changes the whole feeling
so i don't want to get locked in here i won't i won't get myself out but anyway
so yeah you could definitely sew a clasp on um you know here's another one this is also
you know and these types of clasps you know they can get up there um funny enough when i was doing the book i had
to run to a local bead shop and buy um this one needs to be buffed because
it is actually real silver but i paid a fortune i didn't even get it at wholesale
because i had to um i had to do the step outs for my book
and i needed another one of these and so so i went and i gladly supported my
local beach shop you know without without hesitation but you definitely will invest more on
that type of a um you know um clasp
and but you know i've really enjoyed teaching with the hemp and the buttons
just because you know it is very very quick and easy so let me go ahead
hold on one second here and i'm
trying to bring myself in there we go i'm gonna get this thing out of my face
though whoops okay so yeah there's um
how else have we finished we've done gosh the wood buttons um trying to look at some of the
workshops we've done in the past oh the sliders are the ticket too the
sliders let me bring one of those
so oops like surrounded by things so this is the slider clasp and this is
actually a really really super easy way to finish as well so you want to use the beadalon slider
connectors um i have those in the shop basically they'll go over 11 0s and 8
o's and they really do make finishing your project very simple
and we just did this project in um this was just last month what was that
april so you can see right here where i um whoops
where i use the slider so there are edo's hidden in there
and then it goes into into the project this was really fun
very dainty and lightweight so yeah so there's the sliders you can um
you know so so the clasps on you can um
you know you can do the finishing technique where there's you know the leather that goes over
the beads um you know there's a couple different techniques but if you're just getting
started i love for you to start with the hymn do the button get your weave down and
there we go is that better i came back i came back in and forgot to
turn my to mute is that better now joan
yes yay but yeah so i think if you're just um
starting the most important thing is to really get the warping down right because you want your warps to
you want them to be nice and taut so this is step one of importance
okay figuring out how to not figuring out but you know really working on the warp process
and then really working on you know the wefts which is the weaving and
doing that in such a manner that you don't distort the warps so you're learning you know
the tension as you go back and forth so that's real you know important
and then you know you're gonna have such great success by simply tying off and
then adding the button and so that's going to really empower you for your next project so i really
like to have people start off with this idea that's why i did the starter kit
because it's a perfect way to learn and if you're wanting to share your love
with weaving it's a perfect uh way to share that because everything
everything will be in that kit i'm gonna get rid of
it's the strangest thing i just i can't with technology i don't even know
one two three one two three yes okay so i can't get rid of the other one oh well whatever that's fine you could stare at
all the pretties stare at all the lovelies look at all the beautiful things that you can
learn how to create with the jewel loom it is really just one of the most
amazing little looms if i don't say so myself you know i made it so that it would be
friendly it's perfect as far as cost it lets you get into something
um [Music] so robin thinks that i'm on mute
but joan you said you can hear me you are so welcome melania yeah i hope
i'm saying that elania i can hear you thank you thank you
okay so hopefully my voice is back but um yeah so are there
are there any questions it says mike is muted but joan is saying she can hear me
maybe somebody else could chime in and tell me if you could hear me now
okay great great oh hey linda thank you okay
that's so funny okay robin awesome so yeah so make sure you sign up for the
newsletter um again i'm super cool about making sure that what i do email about
is relevant and important and um and so thanks rose that's so sweet and
i'm really excited about our workshop for may so there are seats left
currently i want to say that there are um six
seats left in the may workshop and i finished it up today
i have been dreaming of it for months and so um the way that i design
is it it's typically a process as my very patient students know
but um it's always worth it you know i try to come up with techniques like new
ideas on how to use the beads and um [Music] and so yeah so
uh may's gonna be really cool if you can envision like a trellis
with a rose garden and then a lot of fluff if you want fluff
or it can be basic trellis but anyway in that workshop just
so that you better understand um you get the majority of the components
um with your kit and so you know you have you have your
own loom you have your needles and your beading thread so you provide the basics and
then i curate all the other things and then what i do
is i tape the step by steps that go into the jewel loom school
and then if you're a student if you're a paid student of that month's class you have access
always to that content and then once a month
we get together and do a zoom which um is a combination of things it can be
it can be a part of the project if somebody was struggling and they were like hey you know do you
think you could show that again then i will um
but it's a a lot of conversation it actually turns into like an hour of
mentoring um so like if you have your um you know if you're making
jewelry uh you know for a living we had a really great conversation about that last month
so it's a very fluid very ongoing relationship uh kara is
here she can tell you it doesn't ever really end [Laughter]
a it's a beautiful thing it's a beautiful community it's a limited amount of people and like i said
for this month they're like six seats left and so anyway um
i i just love it because i love everyone in there you can come and go as you please you can subscribe for a lower
rate whatever floats your boat easy peasy pumpkin squeezy um the really
great thing is that you know you do get some vip status
when you're one of my students right even more so than you do now um one of the big things is that there's a big
discount um that you get when you've been a student for at least two months you automatically get a um
a discount code so that you're always saving 20 all year long which is huge
it's good it's good stuff and then if i'm bringing in things that are you know exclusive you always know first so it's
more than just a workshop it's really turned into this special community of
individuals who just really love to make create
you know jewelry and and some people make it to wear it and others are making it to sell it and gift
it and it's a plethora um of people and it's it's good and cara
says yes it's great join up but again you can subscribe or you can um
uh it's 45 a month if you subscribe or 55 if you just want to check it out so
it's it's really a great a great value really good so
but anyway uh so yeah for me there are some seats hi trisha so yes and don't forget to join trisha
and amber this thursday at four o'clock pacific standard time seven o'clock eastern
standard time um every thursday the girls are in uh on the youtube channel
they're going to be streaming to the facebook page the julian facebook page and um
trisha's bracelet this week is phenomenal so super super cool it's with the silver silk loom which by
the way is back in stock and um and so
if you've been waiting to get your silver silk loom
oh my god okay how about now y'all can you hear me now
okay hold up i don't know what happened
that is so crazy what did i where did i leave off at
um let me let me pick my uh my seasoned brain let me think what we were saying we're
talking about the workshop and i feel like um we definitely covered a lot about that so
again if you're um interested check it out on the website and there's six seats
i was talking about the live so trisha amber's not gonna be with us this week okay so it's all trish
and um [Music] and the silver silk looms are back in stock
trisha is going to be showing you the silver silk loom on this thursday project rocks
i'm going to be on with nelay again may 26th and then i'm a part of his june
22nd that week of his education so there'll be a couple more
opportunities coming up um with the silver silk loom and how to to
use it with a silver silk uh chain and then danielle used a product
um and she was macrame with it and that was really cool i really loved that whole
show with her anili so yes the bracelet that trisha did is
definitely drop dead gorgeous and um she's used the 9x6 uh gemstones not gemstones gym cuts that
are in the shop neck wow you're just giving the silver
silk some love girl the pit the loom all right so here's the thing on the silver silk
loom there are literally six right now in stock
um if you don't know much about jewel let me tell you about the wood looms we don't like mass produce them
just to have them sitting around because they're wood and that's you know what i'm saying like we don't
do that we pretty much manufacture to order we try to keep a little in inventory
but um so just to fyi that you know we're making them so it takes a
little bit longer than the other looms just because they're wood right that that's with all the wood looms but especially the silver
silk one because it's got this one piece of wood in it that's um pretty awesome
so yeah and trisha is going to be using the silver so we're going to guess what it turned into a silver silk
loom month who knew so trisha's got the silver silk loom thursday
next thursday i've got it on may 26th and then yeah
