laughs so Joan and I were just talking about
who's touching the blue button to go live because as you know I am not allowed I am just not allowed to touch
anything because I will end things I will start things
oh my heck how's everyone doing Sherry and Maria and Bonnie are already
going at it talking saying hello how you doing oh spunky I like that I like that
that is super cute love love from Virginia I don't know if
um let's see is Virginia cold right now I know parts of the country are just like
definitely having a little more fun with their winter than uh than they would like so and
there's Jones saying hey so we're streaming right now to Facebook and to the YouTube channel and for those of you
that don't know me I'm Juliana Jules Avalar the inventor of the jewel loom hey Stephanie and
um this month uh I really felt like you know what it's the month of love and
what do I truly love but my original invention my beautiful baby blue jewel
loom um that really started all of this excitement in the weaving world and so I
really wanted to take every Thursday and um and focus on that thank you Bonnie so
Bonnie just said beautiful necklace Jewels so this this is my power piece
and um this is the last piece I made on an
airplane before 9 11. so prior to that uh I used to take all
of my things my jewel loom and all of my you know cutting utensils and what have
you and I would bead um because I was traveling all over the country um and so and so yeah so this is my last
my last one that I made on an airplane and I refer to it as my power piece it's the one I put on when I really need to
remind myself that I got this that I'm good that I'm enough
I'm worthy and all the other noise can just like take a hike right so all of you all
should have a power piece if you don't have one I would highly encourage you to start dreaming and
um and to make that so hi Nissa I hope I'm enunciating that correctly it's so hard when we're like
um on the board here so just seeing everyone's name I'm so grateful that you showed up so again
um I'm the I'm the baby mama of the jewel loom the adventure of the jewel loom and this is the jewel loom right
here that we're talking about um it came out in uh let's see it
started to birth in 2012 and then I believe it was uh late January February
of 20 2013 when we introduced it at the craft and hobby show which
um it it won the uh an Innovations award there and so from there so what like
it's you know it's been like this 10 year journey of getting the loom made getting the U.S
patent y'all I have a patent like I have to remind myself like how incredibly
awesome that is because I never talk about it enough and it's Pretty stinking cool to have a U.S patent
um somebody said to me do you realize that you'll always be a part of History
and I was like no I don't it didn't even dawn on me like you're
right oh my God that's like so stinking cool so yeah so my my patent number oh
heck I can't see it in the dark I should know it by heart sometimes I do remember what is it six seven six seven six eight
seven nine if I ever get a tattoo because I'm afraid
that's probably the one thing I would have tattooed so um but yeah so anyway I
tried to warp it just now oh this is so exciting so I love it so a lot of you
have been working with the jewel loom for many many years um one of the first places that I introduced it
was Jewelry Television so right after it came out at the craft and hobby
Association show um we went to Jewelry Television and
they were the first to have it on air and so it was so stinking cool
um and a lot of you got the original Jewel looms that came out so pretty nice
okay I'm just like it's moving very quickly here and I just see you all I
see you all yes and Sarah you are so right okay so let's break it down I want you to get
out um some you know you might want to take notes it's possibility uh today
what I'm gonna do is I'm going to once again break down the loom put the rod in
there okay because it's really important talk about how it's flexible not bendable I want to show you
some of the Looms that have been literally in their work position for 10
years and I'm not exaggerating and talk about the things that we can use Sarah you definitely have a point about
adding other options other than buttons I've been a little button crazy and so
um I'll respect to that and I definitely want to show that so next Thursday we
will warp the loom with hemp I'm going to use a one millimeter hemp black and
then we're going to start making our love cuff now the original love cuff was five across
um and this time I'm gonna go three across just so that we can actually get
it finished in a timely manner and so that's what we'll be doing I've
got one strand strand of every psiam six millimeter fire polish that I have in
the shop and so we'll do that next Thursday the following Thursday we're going to take it off sorry Sarah we are
going to add a button to that but then in addition to your requests I've also gotten some more so I figured that last
Thursday what we really need to do is talk about the different options um one of the for you know way back in
the day when I first started doing all of this all right we did
um the weaving annalize creative living and we sewed on the button
um and so I did that forever and a day like like how you're probably thinking Jules you're like button crazy like you
know how we just do this right now I get it I hear you I know I'm totally no
um but prior to that it was all about this it was sewing on a boxed
um you know uh oh gosh where did my words disco the boxed ending there so it's got like the
three holes so that's you know uh that's definitely one way to do it Danielle's got a super
cool way to do it you know what I should ask Danielle to come on at that last Thursday and and uh we can have some fun
with her technique but one of the things that you can do if you haven't done
already if you want um I this is my book jewel loom Inspirations it is delish super
delicious all right it's got step by step on how to sew on those clasps
I don't carry my book I know weird but the reason being is that I can't compete
with Amazon's free shipping on a book and shipping a book is a little more fun
than humans are allowed to have when it comes to packaging and rates and so you
know Amazon carries it and and I just can't I can't uh and it's cool totally cool that that Amazon carries it and
they can sell it and you can buy it from them thank you Paula Paula says she loves my book
and uh and so yeah does that involve fringes teach the
classes I don't know what that means um and Bonnie says she got one too so
sewing on the clasp is let's see I think it's at the beginning oh yeah
so well this must be it so here's here's
the illustrations for sewing on the clasp in the book so if you haven't picked up that copy I
would go to Amazon I would pick up your copy you could look for Giggles on beadalon.com because I do know at one
time they did carry it but I don't know that they do anymore so
um Amazon's got the free shipping and you know you could check it out there if
you were lucky enough back in the day to be watching me on Eileen's creative living I don't know if these bring any
memories but these were the books that the um that Tiffany Windsor and I did together when we were on the aleene's
creative living television show and we were doing all of the amazing bracelets and all of that good stuff yes Sarah
it's a great sort you know great and you'll be like highlighting and you'll be putting all your little stickies throughout the book
so okay um let's I want to talk about the loom
the jewel loom the original jewel loom okay is made out of plastic the plastic
is flexible it is not bendable all right so you
shouldn't be trying to fold it in half you know it's flexible it's off it's and it's
super duper super duper super duper light like I don't even know the ounces but like a couple right like what maybe
one maybe an ounce and it's plastic and so when you put it on your surface it's
gonna wiggle it's not wood it's plastic it's shiny it
has a shiny tush and it's gonna wiggle so you definitely want to work on a
Surface we've talked about this in the past you know like your bead mat
um even you know what's the stuff called that you put in your cupboards obviously I don't do that very often
um oh heck Joan help me out here so you can use any type of like a non-slip grid to
actually put your jewel loom on so that it doesn't um you know wiggle around like it's mama
and uh and so she's probably going to come up with it she's like it's a this
it's what is it called I love that purple hat on the black band
oh you know what that is so you're right that is so stinking cool you know what
what did we make that out of so that wasn't that was just a prop I'll
have to ask Tiffany because I can't quite tell what what those beads are
I don't know if they were bugles but that would be hot oh I should totally look for that Beetle on sticky mats
totally yes beadalon has a lot of the accudomons that I don't carry
um and so like the Wildfire um burner is like all that in a bag of Cheerios love it
love it love it shelf liner geez Louise did you like that was a Pictionary type of Moment Like feels like put it in a
cabinet all right are those books still available now
you have to cut you have to come to the the Museum of jewels
yeah those were great books I wish I wish I had the rights to them I don't know who does to be honest with you I
don't know if Duncan has the rights uh to those books I don't know if they were
reverted back to the family I want to ask Tiff I just spent the weekend with her so I'm gonna ask Tiffany about that
and we'll see we'll definitely see so back to the original jewel loom um you've got a really nice almost three
inch wide area to work with um just about 11 or so inches long you
can certainly use part of the Loom to create a piece or you can use all of the Loom which let me bring this one in
so this look at this this is the entire jewel
loom warped with red wildfire
is that amazing so I know somebody in the group
was working on a correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe it was a Afrida
patterns and I do believe it was like the entire width I could be long I was it a jewel
loom or was it a small Warrior there if you're not a part of the free
Facebook group by the way it's insanely fabulous like so top-notch
the projects that are designed and created are
I don't even have to say anything like I'm just like oh my gosh oh my gosh so join that group because it's crazy good
yeah so anyway so this is um you know you can you can warp your entire jewel
loom and do a really cool piece on it a seed bead piece so you don't want to
skip any grooves um if you're working with the uh small little tiny beads there love the red
against the blue right such a great visual look at that right I could just probably sell these
on air hahaha okay all right enough of that okay so
let's talk let's talk about the rod now
um when you're inserting the rod and I'm going to stand up I did Frida on the original that thank you girlfriend I
knew it I'm so sorry just was trying to process all the visuals that I see in the group because
you can confirm this right it's like constantly constantly amazing stuff okay
so I'm going to take the metal rod and this is my belly um it's a little poochy ER Tiffany and I
ate out all weekend we did like really good yummy food so I'm going to take the metal rod
and I'm going to put it in the bottom hole swing it forward and then I just let the
jewel loom rest on my belly there and then I'm going to just very carefully
pop in the top Rod okay so that's how you insert the rod if you
went to take it out and see it doesn't want to come out I'll turn the loom around
and pop it out so don't ever don't fight with it okay turn it around let the
tension redistribute itself and it will come out my favorite Loom of all time
thank you thank you sweetheart thank you Tina yeah I did a really a really cute
little Tick Tock before we went live I'll share it it's it's just precious okay so let me pop it back in for
Giggles so I'm going to put the put it in the bottom and then pop it in the top okay so
that's what it should look like when your metal rod is in your loom
so some of the things that you can use some of the products that you can use to
warp with so if you want to take these notes down if you have the book you probably have all of this already in the
book um obviously Wildfire it's definitely my go-to for
beading thread I love it um I love the color palette of the G1 I
hope I'm not getting that wrong but it's expensive okay Wildfire is amazing comes
in a lot of different colors I'll be using the black um you could probably use the red if you wanted but I'm going to be warping with
red black hemp so I just want that to coordinate um you can use
um artistic wire we have we have warped with artistic wire many
many times and it is so incredibly delicious uh 26 gauge 24 gauge
um if you're feeling on the Wild Side you could try 22 gauge it's a little bit
thicker so you know you could play around with that just make sure that you
have your nylon pliers your nylon jaw pliers so that you can help massage the
wire as it's being warped but I love warping with with artistic wire
um Trisha turned us on to warping with soft flex and so that has been a whole
new thing and so of course she's going to be doing a segment over
um on the soft Flex Channel by the way February 15th and so
um I will be over there as well but she is wait to see what she designed it's
like out of the park and she warped and did it with a soft Flex it's over the top Super over the top
um another product that I have recently fallen in love with is the repeat from beadalon so you can work with that there
are two different thicknesses I know the repeat is expensive it is
but um 20 20 meters equals
seven bracelets at at like three yards a piece right so
you know do the math it's actually not that expensive if you're going to get a
couple colors and make multiple bracelets so again 20 millimeters of the
one uh 1.0 equal it was like 21.87 yards
divided by 3 which is most commonly used in a uh let's see
in a bracelet like this so you get seven bracelets and it's
sustainable it's made out of plastic bottles it's a super cool product and it comes in all these delicious
colors I personally love repeat like I I love it I love it I love it I love it so if
you haven't tried it tried it I'm gonna try to get it in the shop um but yeah so the repeat is super cool
let me bring in some alternative kind of um material so here's something that's
interesting we always talk about removing the rod prior to warping
this um this Loom is Warped with leather real leather okay
so real leather and you can see how it has stretched
so let's bring in let's bring in this one
right look at so what I would say to you is that if
you wanted to leave your rod in when you're working with leather not a deal
breaker you can do that especially if you know you're not going to finish your project right away so
like this has been sitting on the loom for quite a while and it's it's it might be flatlined next time I pull
it out but I keep it as an example so again if you're warping with real
leather it is going to stretch if you know you're not going to finish your project right away just take the leave
the rod in because it will help to hold the product and and so here's an example
of of a faux leather okay so this is not
real and you can see that it didn't stretch so if you're going to
use a product you know whether you use real leather or not Some people prefer
not to um you're not going to have a problem with the faux cord the faux leather cording okay
um one of the things that I wanted to show too well let me stay focused okay here's sorry ribbon
sorry ribbon however you want to enunciate it and again you can kind of tell that it's
stretching a little bit it's not going to have as much give as the leather but it's fabric so you know it's not
going to be as tight as the Wildfire but um
you know but it it it is going to give a little wouldn't that wouldn't that be
better in the long run for pre-stretching for the real leather I um are if you're referring to pre like
stretching out leather leather scares the bajeebies out of me like I when I'm warping it I'm so
stinking careful not to pull very tight because it'll snap so is that what you
mean because I don't let me know if that's what you mean that scares me I wouldn't I won't do that because I'll
break it and it's too expensive so let me know sir if that's what you're thinking
um okay this one is really stinking cool too so again I'm just showing you things that you can warp with because that
question comes up all the time and in my mind it's just kind of like what do you mean can you work with like
I I say if it ain't moving it's fair game [Laughter]
seriously if it ain't moving it's fair game try it esselon
all the things anyway Jules will be okay so this is yarn all
right this is a project I made oh my gosh it still has my my um my married name on it so this was one
of the original looms and look at how well look at how it has kept its warp
and its shape so we're talking at least 10 years old this has been on the loom
right so this is all yarn just a simple yarn that I probably picked up like at
Michael's and um I started doing some weaving and then I wove in
um some pretty beads of the rainbow so isn't that fun so you can also do
some Fiber weaving on the original Loom I mean letting it sit on the loom for a
bit to pre-stretch before oh that's smart I got you
all right that sounds that sounds interesting and then re-warp it
okay if you try it let me know but that's smart that's smart
cool beans okay what else did I want to show you I wanted to show you this one
is it this one this is another original Loom so the
reason why I'm showing you these um I'm leading up to it so this one too
has my my married name on it so these are these are the originals so the ones
that have Hudgens um the these are the ones that were made originally and so if you get one these
days it says Avalar that's my maiden name but uh you could see again this is
a class that I taught at JTV okay and it's been sitting on here since then and
that's quite impressive and and even more impressive what I want to um talk about is like there have been
people who have snapped their Loom okay um I can't tell you why it happens I it
it breaks my heart like I literally can't if you post a picture with a broken Loom I almost throw up like I
know I'm not full of it like it hurts it hurts so bad
um because I don't understand you know I'm just like oh my god what happened you know to see my baby like dead right
like you're like scrolling and then there's your baby in two pieces um and so you know I know that it has
happened um what I want to say to you is make sure that you get your replacement for free from Beetle on it sells at
benalon.com you just or text them you email them you let them
know that your jewel loom broke um and they will replace it for free so
make sure if that's ever happened to you that you please take advantage of that because it sucks when that happens and
I'm so sorry that it happens I don't know why it happens because I'm showing you looms that have been in their warp
position for like 10 plus years and so I don't know you know perhaps
I have seen on occasion where I'll I'll see that
you see how this is like you've got what you've got like a two inch span right here I have seen where people have
they've really tested the warp and and there might be three inches so that
tells me that they got that bad boy warped so tight you know too tight and then what happens
is it probably gives I don't know I'm not there I've not witnessed it
it doesn't even matter I mean it does bum me out but but the gist of this is get your
replacement okay and then just keep practicing and don't kill any more of my babies
I know you're not I know it's not intentional being lawn was great yeah Maria had to get a replacement Loom and
so um you know but take a look take a good look at this because again this is probably like a like what two inches
maybe maybe yeah so if you get done warping your jewel loom and it's almost that the grooves
are kissing each other you have warped way too tight so that could be a problem like totally a problem because then you
know like I said earlier it's flexible it's not bendable and so you're really putting a lot of pressure on his little
bottom here and um and so yeah Joan just posted the customer service phone number
uh for being alone again you can also email them um at sales beadalon.com
so all right so I think um you know let me show you one more this is hemp this is what we're going to
be doing next week we're going to be warping with the hemp so easy peasy you can see the distance
between the warp and the bottom here of the jewel loom again maybe like two inches I hope that's a visual that that
will help some of you um because I have heard people say you know what maybe I I warp too tight so if
you're Loom you know is it similar to this
or you know or this after you warp it chances are you know
you've got almost a horseshoe and it's too tight
so back it up a little there okay uh what else do I want to show you
okay so some tools flat nose pliers if you're gonna um we're gonna be weaving with the
Wildfire it always helps to flatten the end of the Wildfire so that it'll go
through that tiny jewel loom eye okay the Wildfire burner love this tool
flipping love love love this tool I'm loving on bead alone today
scissors okay Robert and Karen gifted me finally a pair of scissors not that they
finally gifted me because I never went out to buy any for myself they they gifted me some for uh
for the holidays for Christmas what is the best distance for crystals what is the best distance what do you mean by
that what is the best distance
let me know what you mean by that are you talking about the the in the warp you're gonna skip three grooves if
you're working with a six millimeter round bead which we are next week okay
so if you're working with the gorgeous Siam six millimeter fire polish that's
in this shop on the front page you're going to warp your loom you're going to have four warps warps and
you're gonna skip three grooves in between each warp I hope that's what you meant Anissa Anissa Anisa
you'll have to okay and I'm ah Jody I'm so happy that
you got a new a new goddess Loom yeah and it does depend on the size of
the bead and um so if you have a smaller bead the scientific approach is you put
the bead up to the grooves and that's how many you Skip and is this
really the truth of it right like you pick you you if you're gonna weave with big old 12
millimeter pyramid beads all right you put the pyramid up to the groove
and then you would eyeball it and you would see that you would need to skip seven grooves so I hope that's what
you're talking about foreign goes beads go it's kind of like that
same same thing that I said earlier about the warping material like if the bead is
standing still grab it I I don't
you know my brain doesn't do rules like I in creativity I just want you to like
explore I want you to have fun it's not you know I'm not a very like this is you
know there are some things like like how you warp in the rod I'm pretty like this
is how I want you to do it but um warping materials and weaving materials and such I want you to have fun how many
strands of fire polish do we need for the cuff okay um I have a six inch wrist
and so three strands because we're going to do three strands so that we can we
can just call it a day um five strands are gorgeous absolutely
gorgeous by the way I think what was the Joan I think I had right under half a million hits on my short that I did for
the love cuff because I called it the love cuff
do you think that the name had anything to do with it going viral
I do so the five are hot Bonnie is hot with
five let me just tell you that so it just depends I'm gonna weave three
so that we can get through it all right because weaving five is a little bit more time consuming I really want to
make this with you but um this is five
and so there are three different styles there's the Siam a b
there's the Siam luster which is absolutely divine
and there's the Siam Okay so each strand has 25 beads for a six inch
wrist one strand works times however many you want to go across
so if you're going to do three you're going to get three three strands but if you have a bigger wrist then like let's
just say six and a half then you're going to need to get an extra strand to make a longer bracelet if you're
going to go five across you're probably going to need um and you and you do seven so five so
like probably eight strands for a bigger yes for a bigger wrist love the five and
the red is gorgeous it's one of my most favorite I will layer this with one more bracelet like
oh my gosh I don't have it oh I do have it okay do you remember this one that we
made in class look at how stink and gorgeous this is so I will do
this bracelet and then I will do this bracelet
look at how gorgeous right
who's got major arm candy right now so I love that I love to layer these big
chunky ones together so yes right
right he was going to mess with me with those on
that's my those are my power bracelets oh gosh now I can't get out of here oh there we go
so yeah um I showed you this earlier this was a bracelet that I made the uh
night that my I found out that my Portuguese Grandma had passed away it absolutely just broke my heart into a
thousand pieces I chose to weave this piece with colors that reminded me of
her um they you know we were out on a a ranch in between Oxnard and Camarillo
California so when my father came to this my father when my grandfather came to this country he came to from the
Azores he came to America First and he um
he was here for about two years and then my grandma my father and my Aunt Maria they came
here from the Azores afterwards and my my dad was like 12 or 13 years old when
he came to this country and so they lived on all these little ranches
out in between Camarillo and Oxnard and my grandfather worked the fields pretty
much until the day he died and um and so and so yeah so when my grandma passed
away you know she was all about the land you know she grew everything they had Orchards
um they my grandfather had worked his way up to where we were allowed to live
in the main house you know it wasn't our we didn't own it but the gentleman who
owned all of the fields he let my grandfather and his family live there and so um there were there was
everything you can think of walnut trees Persimmons
um orange trees lemon trees that the most amazing avocado tree tree you've ever
seen in your life my grandmother sewed she crocheted she knitted and so everything about her was what I put into
this bracelet and it literally kept me from losing it I I stayed up till like three o'clock in the morning and so this
is actually in the book and the instructions on how to make this are in the book um the one that I show how to make is
called Ocean's Delight it's just a different color palette and then it shows you how to sew on a really nice
box clasp so and that for me is really what this is
all about you know it's really really really what this is all about it's about
um weaving your story you know it can be really simple easy peasy hey I just want
to knock a bracelet out of the park and put something on or maybe I'm making um bracelets for my my booth and I'm you
know I'm this is part of how I make my living um but in everything it's really about
this story and for me it's more about storytelling
um because there's just so much emotion that seems to come from this beautiful
Soulful dance that you know going from left to right you know and you just kind of get into
the rhythm of it and I love it when I'm teaching a class and and everybody's like right right and then we get we warp
and then everyone starts weaving and it's like quiet like I think correct me if I'm wrong but it's possible that it
can even quiet down Ginger [Laughter]
it's possible I don't know but possible but yeah so it's all you know it's all
storytelling you know like the pieces these are from the book that Tiffany and I did um the brooches somewhere I have to go
find it but you know this will forever be um a part of my history right a part of
my story you know this was one of the first books and all of the all of the
Beautiful Stories from aleene's creative living and you know we used to be on set all day taping uh the show and then we
would all go into the uh the kitchen and there would be bead boxes everywhere just every anyone who ever was on air or
visited the leans they know this you would go in and there'd be fishing tackle boxes everywhere and they were
full of beads and there were blooms everywhere um because that's where I learned how to
bead and uh and we would sit around and we would make oh we would just make tons
of these Joan fee Tiffany Heidi Lauren Beth Carol you know the
whole crew we would sit around and we would make these bracelets and so yes it's meditative it's prayerful it's this
beautiful story and so I want you to gather all of your things
um and you know just really embrace the original jewel loom whether you've
Advanced to one of the wood looms or not the original jewel loom is always going
to be my go-to it's got a warp like nobody else out there on the market and
um it's the best I'm just gonna say it I'm gonna say it's got a patent I'm gonna say it's the best I don't say it
enough and uh and it truly is and I'm forever grateful to my my baby daddies over at beadalon for uh and my mamas for
helping me get it to Market and and they've just uh you know they're so good so I still have oh my gosh so Hermie is
saying I still have my loomed bracelet you taught me on a leans that is amazing
super super super amazing so I have one more thing to share with
you um nobody has seen this yet
but did you all see nelay's bead board that I did for him
and and you all loved it you've been showing it a lot of love and I was just
I don't I have a bead board needs a bead board oh my God I cannot like when Robert
showed me this I just about cried so I'm gonna show you now jewel loom now has its own bead board
look at that look at the loom and look at the warps that he was able to laser is that not
amazing and it's got the tagline weaving creativity and joy for the soul
so I'm just so stinking excited about this I want to color in where's that at
I want to color in the heart with the blue but I wanted to show you all first
isn't that so great isn't it it's so amazing but look at can
I get a little closer maybe I wanna I about died look at the warps look at the warps on the jewel loom is that sick
oh my God I just can't even believe it
so so good so Patricia um how do you pick up beads on that board I you know
you put the beads in between the little um spots and you put your needle down
you know who did a really cute um a really nice illustration or demonstration of that was Amber we
should find that one because she did it really cool so so the bead board is
um on the website this whoops this right here is the piece of cork where you put your needles right so you put your
needle in here look at that hold your needle and Patricia was saying you know how
does it hold your your beads so you see how it's got all the these are solids so
they're not going to go under and the little lasered they look like
little polka dots it kind of helps the beads not to go everywhere so you just fill your little spots here and then you
take your needle and you go like that and like that
but Amber did Joan we should find that I think it was a was it a video or a real
darn it because it was so good it was just so beautiful to watch her do that
yeah I'll have to ask um Amber has used the shield uh bead board
quite often we have to find that that video and share it with you all
but Joan says she's looking for it but anyway that's in the shop I'm super
stoked about it the jewel loomers needed their own bead board so so now so now if you're a silky and a
Loomer you'll have your you'll have your uh your bead boards like a Chinese checkerboard for beads
thought about those so funny okay um the other thing too uh a lot of you
have asked me to let you know the jewel loom starter kits they're back in stock
um and so those have been out since December
um and what that is is the original jewel loom the baby jewel loom a pack of the
needles I'm putting three yards of hemp in there you get a wood button every
time I think of a wood button now I'm going to think of uh was it Debbie or Sarah said something other than a wood
button I'm sorry I love wood buttons and a hundred beads now the beads are going
to vary right now they look like this they're gorgeous blue speckle beads
all right but when I run out of that there's something else because it's a starter
kit all right it's not necessarily like a specific look
um I want to give you the things that you need to get started right so you'll the only thing you'll need is your your
beading thread okay but you're going to have 100 beads three yards of hemp a
button an original jewel loom a baby jewel loom and a six pack of needles and those are back in stock
foreign okay so again I just wanted to get through all of this stuff you know all
the things so that next Thursday we can warp our Loom
and we can start making our bracelet together and um and I know that I've had a request to
show how to add thread to your finished piece or not your finished piece your
peace and progress and how to finish and so let's tackle those
on the last Thursday we'll we can we can talk about those things so I will get
prepared for the that presentation specifically for those questions but
let's see I'm just going to scroll back through here
yes I love the board I'm about to I'm serious I cried like when I opened up
the box from Robert I was like you have to flip and be kidding me like I just can't look at the I'm serious can you
even believe that he got the warps on there you got in the loom that's the loom
these Stripes right here are the are the warps I mean it's insane
it's just insane I can't even believe that he was able to do that he's so good
but I did think that it would be really pretty to find like a blue I don't know yet what I'm gonna do like if I'm gonna
use a colored pencil or I probably will use a colored pencil
I mean you can use an acrylic paint you don't ever want to use like a really water-based paint because the Baltic
Birch is not going to be happy um which by the way although this is
sustainable Baltic Birch made here in the USA by another small family business
and so we love it when you support us because um we're doing everything right now
to like not lose our Cheerios oh my God is everything so crazy who's got
chickens by the way who's got chickens listen on all the
serious side if you do have chickens if you've not started to make your own feed
I hear that's the secret I don't know I don't know anyway too funny like my girlfriend's
finally getting an egg a day I'm like and I don't like eggs I'm not an egg eater they gross me out so but for all
you egg lovers I feel you I see you oh good lots of information don't forget
to either decorate your bead board or wax it Joan did a video I don't know if
you can find that Joan did a video on waxing your
um wood products and so I think I see her her little fingers are going right
now she's looking she's looking for that to share with you and so
so make sure you watch that somebody had asked me um I sent a by the way if
you're not subscribed to this Channel please do so um would greatly appreciate that
um thumbs up you know Hearts I don't know whatever it is that you're supposed to do on the YouTubes
I would appreciate it and um if you're not on the newsletter get on the newsletter because you get a 15
off code okay and if the cut the code like you sign up and there's the code all right
if the code doesn't present itself just let me know put your order in what have you or I'll just go make one up for you
um I'm good with that and so Jean says I have a bracelet on my jewel loom and need help getting it off the loom and a
clasp okay so when you say you need help getting off the loom
um what I would do this is scrolling really fast Gene maybe just one of the
awareness cuff videos Joan that we should be able to get the link
for her on that or Gene if you you're on the YouTubes right now so if you go to the playlist
and you look under the awareness cuff video series it's a
12 part Series so all the videos are in nuggets
small nuggets of you know content there is one removing the loom
removing your piece from the loom Joan she might be looking for it right now
hi Stephanie do I tie on right or left so it does I
think in the original instructions what we were saying in these is that Anisa is that we would I mean first of all you're
tying off on the back button so you tie on the back button and then you come up and over
again for any of you that are anxious to start warping I appreciate you I respect
that um go look at the awareness cough video series
and I think that Joan is that easy enough to find Joan
Jones looking for it right now everything in that is like 12
segments how to get started how to put your rod in how to warp how to how to like 12 and
they're all in little nuggets of like maybe 10 minutes Jones looking for that video series that playlist right now
and we're hopefully going to be able to um to do that so love on the YouTube
channel sign up for my newsletter I would greatly appreciate that
um make sure to support Trisha Trisha's over at pink poodle
and um I think that here on the YouTubes if you put her name in
I could be wrong but General correct me um you can you can follow her as well
because she's an all-around designer art right like she's got like a plethora of talents and so uh definitely give her
some love my goal is to help her get to her thousand this year because you need a thousand subscribers in order to like
go to the next level on the YouTubes and so um so do that so we can help we can help
her out I took a class from Katie at the customer experience I loved
working with the loom I've had it for years and just didn't try using it okay well now now you're in Stephanie
awesome okay so there it is awareness yeah so Joan just posted
um the link for the awareness cuff videos again it's like I produced it years ago
years ago hahaha I'll look all proper my hair is
up um but it's good like it's so good like I
seriously had like over a million dollars of equipment that this young guy from the college used to be able to help
me and that's where he worked on the weekends was like a rental place for all of the cameras and he like showed up
with honest to God over a million dollars in equipment that's probably one of the best shot videos I got so spoiled
but um yeah there we go Tricia's pink poodle Studio on the YouTube so make
sure to to help her out um and uh we want to send her a lot of love over there
gonna try I try to show appreciation thank you sweetheart I love that
I love that all right so again next Thursday we're gonna warp our Loom we're going to add the thread to the warps
we're going to add our beads and um and yeah so it'll be it'll be a fun
project and uh easy peasy for those who are just starting out
and in the meantime text me if you could put the text up there the right text
I made a little boo-boo last night
kind of gave out the wrong phone number Trisha did a very cool vid yeah
I saw that was stinking cool okay there's the text
different ways to end your piece adding more thread and if you have any other
questions text me so that I can prep for that because a lot of your things just came in before I
went on air what beads should we use um I'm going to be using six millimeter
fire polish Siam beads from the shop okay so if you have six millimeter beads
already on hand that's what I'm going to be using
okay awesome and I think that's it
I think that's it let me just look at my kudamons
I think we talked about everything yep easy peasy pumpkin squeezy
so I will I will be on the lookout for all of your yummies all your
questions and um we will gather back here next Thursday and
um just a little heads up in case you want to know if you'd like to know things in advance the month of March is going to be all
about the small Sun Weaver so last month Trisha focused on the large sunweaver
that one right there I'm gonna tickle a rally
so we're going to be doing the small one which is next to her words yeah right there there's a small one
okay and so what's really cool is we are going to have four
very well known including Trisha designers um come on every Thursday in the month
of March is going to be about storytelling
um female empowerment go girl
um what word do I want to use all right I'm all right with using
Survivor of things um healer of things
so it's going to be all about that and the small sunweaver and it's not
necessarily going to be projects that are stepped out because remember the sunweaver
I really want you to embrace and I want you to tell your story with that Loom
and so you're going to hear from four different amazing women
every Thursday in March I'm going to start it off on
the first Thursday Trish is going to join me on the second one and then we've got three other amazing women
who I know are just You're Gonna Love You're Gonna Love and um so that's March
first part of April is going to be all about my baby daddy and the silver silk so not only am I going to be on with
nelay um on his channel but we're gonna give the silver silk loom love uh prior to me
departing for the Czech Republic so in case you want to know tickle your
calendar so that you know what's coming up with the jewel loom community and uh yeah so yeah my baby daddy
I think I kind of mentioned that I have like a few I got the beetle on baby daddies
I got Nina he asked my baby daddy I think Sam kind of maybe might be a baby daddy if I don't know
and of course these are all products not children foreign
I have one I have one child my Josh all right I love you guys thank you for like
hanging out and I'm sorry this looks like it almost went an hour I can't I'm just I know I'm bad I talk but
you know my third grade teacher said Juliana would do a lot better in school if she would just like stop talking specifically stop talking to the boys
excuse me she didn't even know God bless her all
right thank you so much I love you I love you and we'll see you next week
Show Transcript Part 2
oh my goodness hello everyone we are um
trying to work out the technology and I'm going to do the best that I can
let me know if you can hear me let me know if I got an echo I think the only
Echo is in my ear which is fun
hi Bonnie hi Maria hi Melanie Sherry Bonnie oh you're what time is it in
Hawaii it's like eight hours right
and Bonnie says she can hear me fine and the Aloha States
I can't whatever that move is the hula hula
oh my goodness okay 2PM oh wow wait it's there only two hours
you know what it is when I lived in Jersey there was somebody I would communicate with
um a store and I think it was eight hours from from Jersey
to Hawaii hi Jody hi Becky
so much fun so did um anybody get started this week on their love cuff
love to hear I know there were a lot of red beads leaving lots of them
they're so pretty I just want this bracelet
hi Judy it's so funny because I feel like I've texted with a few of you today
that texting uh number is good to have
so I don't know if you want to throw it up there Joan but um Hey listen I want to get into it
and um we're gonna warp and so I'm gonna take my camera
down to the iPhone hopefully I stop getting it's like I'm having a conversation with
myself I'm gonna have multiple personalities when this is all over with
okay so I'm gonna try it so we can get to it so I'm going to remove myself and
Joan before I go off I'm going to ask you some questions this is yes and this is no so you can
let me know okay let's see I'm going to remove myself
and got it Okay jump can you hear me and in my echo
no but I can still hear myself wonderful [Laughter]
okay so I am going to start by putting the metal
rod into the bottom hole and then I'm going to put it into whoops
well I'm going to stand up hold on because that's very awkward
oh here we go and I've got the other end up to my belly and then I'm just going
to snap that in okay then I'm going to turn it over and let's
get its bottom let's see let me read just this camera
there we go so I'm working with the one millimeter hemp and I like to start
with a little Loop and I'm going to put that around that
back bottom and this button is closest to my body
and I'm just gonna pull in make another little knot here
pull again then I'm going to put my left hand
onto the back side of the original Jill Loom
while having the hemp come towards me
I'm just going to lay it down on the grooves and I'm going to flip the jewel loom
over now the one millimeter hem is not going
to lay in the grooves because it's too thick okay so it just lays on the
grooves all right and so I'm going to pull nice and taut and I'm going to bring that down
I'm just going to eyeball it okay then I'm going to
flip the loom over wrap it around that back button and I'm
keeping the tension and I'm working with a
six millimeter build bead so I'm going to skip three kind of
eyeballing let's see there we go whoops
I'll pull that to the top and let me see whoop let me get it into
here one two three and I'm going to lay this
down so you flip it over wrap it around the back button
one two three flip it over oh did I let's see hold on
one sec one two three yep oh do I have too many over here
let me just scooch it over a little we're good
it's a little tighter lay it down
wrap it around that back button
and bring it back up now I'm working with three beads across so I need four
warps so now I'm going to whoopsie
around the back button and I love doing the hemp I don't know if you could hear that but it just kind of locked itself
in place so it's pretty cool because it helps to keep the warp nice and taut
and then I'm just going to tie these two ends together
let me get in my third hand okay then I'm gonna cut
the X's and then flip that over
and then I'm going to take my pointer feeder finger lay it on the grooves
and I've got it pressed up against my belly and then I'm going to very carefully
pop the rod out now it doesn't want to come out I'm going to turn the loom around
to adjust the tension and once again and see there it goes
popped out so don't struggle with it just turn the loom
okay oops looks like I froze hold on one second
so you end up with what is that about two inches two inch warp right there and
you can see how it flexed
all right so we're going to put this aside it doesn't matter which way you
work um if you're watching my motion for me
I'm whoops where am I so like if I was coming this way I come under
the button back over under
the button okay all right so
I'm gonna get this stuff out of the way and I'm going to take a seat
okay and let's get the camera here and I'm going to bring in boy we have been
making jewel loom bead boards Fast and Furious
[Laughter] you like them thank you
all right so I've got my needle and thread and I'm going to take the end of it
and I want my project to be centered so for me I have a six inch wrap six
inch wrist um and I'm going to start
right about where that hole is okay so I'm going to take the wildfire
and I'm just going to do a little knot
because I want to weave that in later I'm going to transfer
the needle and the thread to my left hand this is my
left hand okay I'm going to come under the warps
and I'm going to pick up three beads so one [Music]
three and then I'm gonna let those fall
I'm going to take my left hand and my pointer finger
and I'm going to help prop those up
see how I'm holding just using my finger to let them rest
and then I'm going to take my needle and I'm going back through
the hole on top of the warps
so you can see the shiny part of the needle
jump can you hear me I'm going to take my earpiece out of my
ear and tell me what happens
so much for that okay okay
so the next thing I'm gonna get that back down a little okay
and I'm going to once again I've got the needle
and the thread in my left hand and I'm going to come under the warps
and I'm going to grab three beads
so I'm just working a simple pattern going from Siam to Siam a b and then
Siam luster and then reverse
so again the needle is on top of the warps going back through
and once again I'm just gonna keep picking up
this is probably one of the most simplest things you can create
a nice big bead with a decent sized hole
single and just going back and forth
and you can see like I'm constantly adjusting just want to make sure
oh I lost track let's see one two which I think it I think it's this way
so we're just doing this back and forth motion until we have our bracelet
completely beaded and once you get your Rhythm down
they should you should be able to make these like in 30 minutes
especially if you're not talking what would you do well
with a two-hole bead um it's the same process
except for different [Laughter]
but um I can totally on another video do that
but there are videos um Joan I don't know if you can access a
two-hole video but I know Trisha
and Amber did Minnie no Debbie
I have three different type um Coatings so I have Siam
a b and Siam luster and I'm just going back
and forth I'm keeping it easy peasy
that looks like a regular where's the luster
okay awesome once you get your rhythm
hemp or leather or the repeat you got to be careful not to
take your needle and go through that cording because
that's won't allow you to move your beads around
yeah two whole beads are super fun
I wanna adjust here because I want to make sure hold on let's see something
so I want you to watch so
pointer helps to guide weight of my left hand is
resting on the loom and now I'm going through the bead and I
switch hands to help keep it from moving
so it's a dance with your hands as well I did order
um be the lawns what are they called the sticky
the sticky mats so I'm going to have them in the shop
along with the burner I thought for Giggles let's see if
anybody would want some of those
this is a great way to teach someone as well who's never beaded
it's just a real simple process
so do you see how my hands keep switching so once again under the warps
picking up three beads whoops
and then pointer finger prop them up in between the warps weight
of my hand is pushing down on the loom my right hand
is taking the needle and now I'm going to transfer hold it down with my right hand and pull
with my left okay do a couple more rows
wild beat oh come on buddy
Marlon Brando said at the door
so pretty quick okay almost half of the bracelet if not more done
and I'm going to finish that off camera
and then next week we'll take it off but I want to come back up to answer your
questions so let me scooch that well yeah no yeah wait let's
do that okay so hold on hopefully I don't screw up anything
all right so Joan am I echoing no echoing so I can do this and all is
well in the world okay so I'll put this back in the
screen okay so yeah you can see
it's going to go together very very quickly
I love the board so cool I'm gonna
how can I leave how can I have the iPhone leave
she's giving me hand signs can I bring you on
okay okay put it to the side where you're at now so you're big but at least it it's
still on the screen so they can hear you so switch yeah there you go uh it needs
to be up so they can hear you though yeah okay like that yeah and I'm taking
myself off and I'm getting putting up a missed oh a missed question
does it matter which way you warp over the
one laying the more does it matter which way
it was that Hermes question I thought I answered that
so the side's better let's see so I come under
the button that was her question yes sorry I missed you answering it
well how I have two of me right now
oh my God my forehead it was and you didn't answer okay thank
you I met your granddaughter
okay let's see what else do we have what chord did you use
um Becky I used one millimeter hemp
do you have three strands of beads for six inch wrists yes I do yeah
so I go to I do 25 pieces
25 long this one is five across
yeah this is big so you would need um if you have bigger than
a six inch wrist or even say seven I would definitely buy
Six strands or use six strands yeah
there we go yeah it's super awesome and I like to wear this with other
bracelets and really stuck it
so very cool very cool let me see if there's anything else yeah
so you can use um hemp you can use
um traditional beading thread like wild file uke Wildfire you can use leather
faux leather anything that's not moving
okay I do want to let's see um
I want to talk about March so as I mentioned before we have to get
myself out of my ear somehow is it possible
what happens if I do that it goes
Jones like don't touch things
is it echoing now that's really weird
really weird okay so if you can hear me and it's not echoing then I'm gonna go for it I'm good
okay so um it seems to be magical if I hold
everything so I'm afraid to lay anything down March I'm going to be using the small
sunweaver and I had mentioned that and I got
um I got a little inspo from the heart I did back in 2019 when I
introduced the goddesses on Jewelry Television and so what I want you to do
between now and the first of March if you're going to participate is to look for some
free downloads of some hearts so just Google
um free heart pattern downloads and you should come up
with a bunch of these okay and I'm probably going to use because I
was thinking about trying to figure out how to make like a like a um what you call it like a like a
necklace let me see if I can lay that down without the world screaming hold on
okay here's the one this is the one I made on JTV
so did it like and look at the back isn't it gorgeous so you want to find
um a free pattern on the web on the interweb
if you just Google free Hearts free heart patterns
you should be able to find something like this this one is first
so www .first like spell it out
did you get it www .first the word first
f i r s t p a l e t t e.com
and that's where I got this one from yep yeah okay so if you go there you should
be able to find a free download for these hearts and um on Valentine's Day I'm gonna sneak on
and I'll get all of my materials together by then so that you can see
what I'm gonna play with and if you want to follow along in March when we're doing the sun Weaver Trisha is going to
be on um and a couple of other designer folks one you know Deb Deb's going to be on
and then two other friends of mine uh from
a different side of the world I guess you could say so we're gonna have a lot of fun with
that a lot of fun so you could do that hi Kelly
so pretty easy project for for the month
of February do we have any other questions Google free heart patterns yeah thank you
let me just kind of go in here yeah so I used the Wildfire on the
needle yeah Wildfire is like really out of stock
um in a lot of places right now I just tried to order a bench and not going to have it till April but I'm
getting a bunch of the colors that are in stock but most of them are out of stock
yeah I I can't get enough of the repeat I really love it super super love it
oh good Karen I'm happy you're gonna give it a go one more question I missed it you might
have caught it but I missed it Debbie Kearns asked earlier when you're making the bracelet if you're using a
particular pattern oh no I I have three different types of
Siam bead so I have Siam which is just a red a transparent and then I have Siam a
b and Siam luster so I was working back and forth
but no particular no particular pattern no but
um you could use the what's it called the B tool I think it's called and if you put in you know three beads
it'll give you like a bunch of different ways you can lay them out like you could zigzag them but I was just alternating
so Siam a b luster luster AV Siam repeat
so I was just going back and forth be side small sunweaver is there
anything else to order on your website um
yes so I think what I want to do
is definitely incorporate the six O's and the three O's
with the heart so probably incorporate some of those so
probably like some 80s for the base and then I'm gonna probably sew on it it's a
random expression remember when we're working with the the sun Weavers they're it's very random
um but yeah I'm gonna work with some fibers I'll be working with some Edo's some uh
six O's and some three O's and then of course your wildfire
and I'll probably warp with um 0.5 hemp yeah I want to wear I'll
work with the 0.5 yeah and then as far as like covering
the back of your heart this could be like just a beautiful piece of fabric that you have because I know we all got fabric right come on
now so this was just a piece of velvet that I had in my stash and
this fiber these Yarns just came from um probably Michael's you know on a on a
shopping Excursion along the way so yeah
I love that you're getting into it um who just stops me that it's Patricia right Patricia
hi Zach everyone is here very nice
all right well I know that was short and sweet but um the Project's short and sweet so I hope that that helped you
um to see how you can work and if it's your first time or so warping
just practice and don't give up don't get frustrated you just need to practice remember if the raw doesn't want to come
out turn the loom around to you know readjust the the tension don't you know
try to yank it out and um yeah it's a pretty pretty easy peasy
some pretty Basics you know with the jewel loom and so it's exciting though because
it just makes some really really gorgeous pieces and this is this is definitely like sometimes people
will ask me if they warped their Loom too tight and
so I would say that if you're a loom has more than like this I think this is
about two inches from the top of the warps to the bottom of the Loom right here if you've managed
to Warp and your loom looks like it's almost
going to kiss you know you've you've gone too tight and so that could jeopardize you know the plastic
and oh I do want to re um Joan had asked me to remind everybody
we're probably coming out of the cold Seasons knock on wood I hope I'm so over
it here in California but we did find and this is a giggle we did find that if
you um were in a part of the country where your loom was somewhere where it was
getting cold um we actually found that rubbing it
with our hands to like warm up the plastic believe it or not helped
and it makes sense though right because um like in some places it was getting
really cold and this was last year and and so we thought well for Giggles let's see if we warm up the plastic with our
hands if that would make a difference and funny enough and did so
I don't know I don't know if it was in our head or not but I think it was for reals right Joan
she's shaking her head yes hi Cecilia oh I love that name so
beautiful very pretty have a great evening feel
good and have fun yes yes feel good and have fun very good
stuff very very good stuff okay definitely warming it up makes a difference thank
you Maria for validating Joan and I are not crazy [Laughter]
well Joan might be laughs get Joan and ginger together and it's
all over so don't forget to subscribe to the YouTube channel give it a big thumbs up
leave a comment don't be shy to ask questions you can always text me email me
um whichever way of communication is most easy for you and I've been paying
more attention to the YouTube remarks so that I can get back and
um and answer those comments and questions so no not just and Hermie Hermes here
yeah so California warm hands so we're getting that yeah we're validated in our
idea that warming up the jewel loom if you're in a cold area
um works and so it makes sense right like if the plastic gets really hard so
yeah okay looking good all right y'all okay so I'm gonna peek
back in on Valentine's Day and um talk about the things that I have gathered for March for this really
um just from the heart [Laughter] um expression of a heart that I want to
weave and I think it's going to be a lot of fun um I just sent Trisha her son Weaver and
so uh it's always exciting to see what she uh births and I've seen what the
other ladies have done and um it's pretty phenomenal so it's going to be a
really inspiring month and so we're just warming up right we're warming up we're
working with the original jewel loom again and don't forget the starter kit is available so if you want to share the
love that's a great gift and um yeah so next week I'll have my piece
finished and we're going to take it off and we'll add the button and then that
last week which I still need to um um look at how we're going to do this
but we're going to do all the Q a stuff because we had some people who wanted to know about not adding a button and there
were some other questions so I'll have to get all those dialed in but yay Maria yes you did get the best
gift ever all right y'all love you have a beautiful Thursday
evening have a very blessed weekend and don't forget to share all of your
jewel loom love not only on the Facebook group but if you could go over to the jewel loom school
jewelloomeschool.com and join the community over there um it really helps because believe it or
not not everybody's on the Facebook and so you know people feel a little
left out sometimes because they don't get to see everything and um you know I would love for people to
start going over there so make sure you post in the in the community in the school
all right good night love you have a great blessed evening and a blessed weekend and we
will see you Tuesday for a quickie and then Thursday we'll be back here with jewel loom School live
thank you hello hello hello
oh my goodness y'all trying to like I'm gonna sketch this over a little
got all kinds of things let everybody get into the class here
hi Maria nice to see you you're always in the front of the line [Laughter]
oh my gosh do you remember when we were little and we had to get um do you remember the melk cart oh my God
I can't even believe I'm having a flashback to getting the milk off the milk cart do you remember that
Joan did you have a milk cart when you were in elementary school do you remember the milk would come on a cart
isn't that interesting I I'm assuming they don't do that anymore
I haven't been I know I haven't been in a school Josh is like um sorry now whatever his age is
like I can't I can't comprehend that my kid would be 30 whatever because then
that makes me something so but yeah that's just too funny so
Maria's Maria's in the head of the milk line I look forward to seeing oh you're such a sweetheart and I love your
projects it's always so fun I I love going to the the Facebook um group and seeing everyone's projects
it's it's mind-boggling isn't it like don't you ever just trip out Joan that
you know you go on there and it's just like oh my gosh she's everyone is just making like
some killer stuff and it's so cool and whether it's their first time on the Loom or you know 20th time on the loom
and whatever Loom it might be they're just like really producing some really great projects so it's super fun hi Jody
hi Bonnie oh miss Danielle big shout out to you sweetheart so um
Danielle's such a love I um I asked our beautiful Danielle Wicks if she would um
come on next Thursday and do her her little trick uh that we
have shown I mean we even played around with it on the boo boo Loom where we were you know pulling the warps and
Trish is also done it and um and so we've all played with it but I
know that Danielle it's kind of like her in her wheelhouse so not only is she gonna come on next week and show us how
to end a project but she made a beautiful beaded bracelet to share with us and I totally did not have that
expectation so my heart is so full and grateful thank you thank you thank you
um so that'll be next week hi Marianne and Jody I don't I think you just I
think there might be two of you two Jody's can it be or Jackie Jackie
Cozumel oh my gosh I love Cozumel I had so much fun
um going on the scooters and uh oh what is the um
oh my hat Jackie what's the uh what's the stone there that all the
tourists that get off the the cruise ship and they go by it's a real pretty one Joe do you know what I'm talking about
it's a pretty blue I know it's a very touristy thing to do
when you go but what is she she's laughing Joan's laughing in the background
hi Becky oh my gosh I'll let
larimar is that how you how is that how you spell it
yeah that's that's like the the when you go to Mexico that's definitely
um that's definitely in a lot of places especially in the tourist areas I'm
trying to remember we were in Cancun and we went over to Cozumel what in the
world I'm not I'm I'm drawing a blank uh Jody
C received her large Sun Warrior and she loves it yay hi Stephanie
oh that is so and tequila and we're not gonna talk about that what
happens in Mexico stays in Mexico that is so funny oh my tequila days are
long they're long gone y'all I couldn't drink tequila now to save my life
it would be a poop show like no tomorrow
oh my goodness all right so everyone's coming in Albuquerque New Mexico
still cannot believe I've never made it to Mexico and I've never made it to Louisiana
how is that possible I've taught all over the world I've been to Singapore and Australia and Japan a few times and
I've even been to Puerto Rico which I oh God my heart loves Puerto Rico
um and I love Mexico but I've not been to New Mexico and I've not been to
Louisiana which is strange I think I think I need to go there okay
mine are done too okay yeah okay so pretty much no tequila for
this group Bonnie believe it or not never have made it to Hawaii out of all
of my travels um I have not made it to Hawaii I've
never even like you know when I did the Japan trip we didn't even pit stop in Hawaii so I don't know I don't know
girls got to like get her groove on here and and get to some more places so I think uh oh we have an angry face
why do we have an angry face because I haven't been somewhere or because I don't drink tequila anymore
oh the balloon festival I hear is gorgeous and Jody loves Puerto Rico too I taught in Puerto Rico
oh that's right Eliana it's right I I taught there at one of the big scrapbooking
conventions and I had so much fun I think I've talked about this before we're like at at a scrapbooking
convention in Puerto Rico it's like
what is that called the drink is it a not a mimosa it's um look I can't I don't even know my words
because see I don't do this I don't what is that called um
oh my heck what's the drink that's so popular come on somebody help me out it's not a
mimosa that's a I don't even know where that comes from um but I think it's vodka and something
else but anyway these people had at the Scrapbook Convention they had it in these big huge
containers that was just like the middle of the day and you could either get water or you
could get a mixed drink out of this big container it was not a Margaret oh mojito oh my heck boy I gotta go I gotta
go back to bartending school I'm mojito and they had mojito containers and that's where so you had a
Mojito you had water it was like yeah it was a really fun scrapbooking convention
yeah the ones the ones in the states did not have that so okay
so anyway today and I don't know why we have angry faces angry angry faces are
like boo-boo what's wrong okay I can't we can't resolve all the
all the things and I don't know maybe somebody just hit it on accident
well God bless you if you're having a bad day and you got an angry face I'm sending you a lot of love a lot of light
all that good groovy stuff oh Danielle says that's her favorite
drink my okay well then we're gonna have to have a
Mojito party I love that that's what Danielle just
said too I love it we're on the same page maybe next week I'll have to get a recipe before next
Thursday alrighty then so here we go Okay so
we've been working on our love cuff for the first part of
the month and we warped our original blue jewel loom that I have just been
falling in love with all over again this month um it really is a just a beauty with so
much passion and love behind it and so we warped with some hemp cord
which I I really enjoy but boy am I enjoying the repeat from being alone
these days I'm gonna have to definitely start uh warping with that because it is delish and the colors are so Gorge
um and then I used some six millimeter fire polish beads in Siam I used a regular Siam a Siam a b and then a Siam
luster okay some let's see what color black Wildfire
yep I used some black Wildfire beading thread which is my all-time favorite it's always been my go-to
for uh doing the weaving part people also would refer to it as the wefts
and um and what else and then I broke out one of my buttons
so the little wood button I already colored my end colored mine in so I used some red some orange some blue some gray
some white and a little bit of purple just I wanted to give it like a little bit of a color instead of it being the
plain Baltic Birch so I think that'll be a lot of fun something a little bit different
so I'm going to go ahead and move these things out of the way
and I think I need to I did we just want to reverse this Joan
because I don't know tell me if we lose my I think I have to go out and come back in hold on
yeah okay so can you still hear me and is all well all well with the world
I see your little so I'm good can you hear me though when you get rid of my main voice one two
three one two three leave it however you need to leave it so that you can hear me we're good okay
awesome sauce all right so when when I just want to make sure let me
there we go okay so I have the jewel loom all right
bring this back in this is where I warped around the back buttons we'll bring the other end here
okay and so what I'm going to do what I'd like to do is you see how this
whoops this side doesn't have the knots right so I usually don't cut from that end I'm going to come to
the other end which is where I originally tied off that is my normal process and how I cut
my piece off of the Loom now the next thing that I do is I take my left hand this is my left
hand and I hold the finished piece in my hand
and then I take my pointer my pointer right now is behind as is my thumb
and then my thumb transfers up to the back side of the Loom all right and the
reason I have it like in this finger sandwich is so that when I cut the warps
and the jewel loom goes back into its flat position my glass beads don't
bounce off of the surface and you know break or chip or you know we
don't want any damage done to that uh to that piece
I just gotta I turned everything off except for some reason my text messages are just coming
through somebody just asked me if I've ever been skydiving I can't even imagine [Laughter]
I can't I wanna I don't know I don't know if I could do it I have jumped when I was in Mexico I have jumped at 21 feet
it was it was high into a and forgive me if I enunciate it wrong into
us right sonoto someone's gonna correct me
but yeah but I have not skydived whoever that was okay once again
project is in my hand the thumb and the pointer go to the back of the project
the thumb is coming up and over the loom
and then very carefully okay so I'm gonna bring in my scissors and very carefully I'm going to just cut
all right did you see how it kind of expanded there that's exactly why I hold it in my hand so that it doesn't bounce
off of the Loom and now the loom is flat again and while we're at it we might as well
we can go ahead and take this off let's see if it comes off off easily
yeah and so this limb is all cleaned up now and ready to go for the next round
okay so I'm going to put that to the side and
then I'm going to come over and what I'm going to do is I'm going to start to tie
cenotus tequila makes you jump into Cenote
oh I love you Jackie that's fun were you there oh my God so funny
um okay so I'm going to just make like a little knot here so let me just bring this up to the camera actually
okay so I have four warps and I'm gonna end up tying
um these two together and then I'm going to tie the other two together and what I do
is I'm going to take these two and then I'm going to
wrap it and I'm just making like a little knot here
okay and then I really want to pay attention one of the things that you really need to be aware of let me just
do a little FYI here you see how the warps go well they're they're going
let's see how can I describe maybe that's okay so they're going you know up and down right so if you pull
um too much you'll distort the warps now Danielle can go into a description next
week of why you would do that when we're using her ending process today I don't
want to do that um and so I just want to be careful let me come back into camera that as I'm
making this knot right I'm just being really careful here
and so I just want it to be nice and even I
don't want it to distort the project so I'm just very carefully making my little knot there so I'm going
to bring that up to the camera so you can see it's just a easy peasy little knot
then we're going to do that over here on the other side
we're going to create a little knot there
so now we have our two knots
and then we're going to bring our button in now I didn't color the back but you certainly could so like if you wanted to
you could just take a colored pencil to the Baltic Birch and I like to follow
the grain so you could just do a really light
coat here of this is a colored pencil you could use an acrylic paint
Trisha has done some amazing how-to videos on how
um to color in the Baltic Birch she's made the pieces look unreal
okay so I'm just going to leave it at that do a little bit of the edge there
and then we will insert I'm going to insert this
into the holes I'm going to even that out just to make it a little bit easier
and let's see I want to get these both in because
so am I on the camera yeah here we go
okay so then I want to hopefully I'll be able to get these two ends back through
here so I want to get them let's see where's
well come on now you know what if I pull it up a little maybe it'll make it a little easier
thank you so Cindy I see your question I'm just
curious um that's such a broad a broad question
specifically what are you um in what you need to see with the
wisdom Warrior okay so I'm going to end up tying this because these are sh these are starting to um Fray
always happy to um demonstrate whatever to make your experience better so but
give me give me a little more of exactly what you need like are you having do you
have a wisdom Warrior and if so what size also are you speaking to and uh what's the process
so actually this is going to be okay I was trying to be um Danielle does a fun
little thing where she weaves the ends back into the button but I just don't have enough length
to do that so I'm going to come back I'll probably end up trimming that so that it looks
like there's you know that the knot is a part of the button
I might even for Giggles put like a little glue there I'm just gonna clean that up
so on this side what I need to do is I need to create the loop and let me just
pull my uh my flannel up oh my gosh it is freezing
cold in California like I heard we were just as cold as New York if not New York was actually warmer than us
so I'm just what come on buddy
Marlon Brando's been um scratching at the door and I told him I said if you're coming in you're coming
in and he didn't come in so he's been standing outside scratching
but now he has to wait because he's not going to learn okay there we go so I'm trying to figure
out like where that Loop's gonna be tied so that
um it fits my wrist so it looks like about right there so I'm going to squeeze myself out
and I want to keep this in place and just going to come back in here
and nip those um I'm going to try this one more time I'm getting frustrated can I do with
wire I missed all the lives
and Nissa tell me which Loom um you have again
okay so I've got that pinched and I just
again I want to keep that space so I'm going to mark that
I think I'm just going to do an eye it looks like it's yeah okay so I'm going to come over here first and tie these
just like I did on um on the other end
okay foreign don't we have [Music]
um so Cindy you must have ordered the big Loom the large wisdom Warrior don't we
have it warping the large wisdom Warrior video we can share
I mean don't have anything specific to a guitar strap
but um but the basics of getting the wisdom
okay so there we go all right so we have those two in place and now I'm going to take all four of
them and that looks like my Loop that I need and then I'm just going to
tuck these in and as I'm closing this I got to be really careful not to make my Loop too
small because I got to get that button through there and I want it to be nice and even
so I start to pull these ends separately
foreign I've got one where are you at buddy oh
there you go okay perfect okay so let's see how that worked
oh I think I'm gonna have to wear this to Bunko tonight so I'll go back
so I have a six inch wrist these were um let me get in the camera here sorry about that oh they do match my pink the
a b match is really pretty so I will go back and clean up my ends
and um yeah look at so once you get your Rhythm down we've talked about this with um that you know
the big the big hole bead Joan do you want to bring me back up
and we can we could okay there you go can you can you hear me am I okay
okay awesome perfect so I just want to the warping anyway and
which any Anisa witch Loom though did you have
so we can get a tag a video for you
Cindy when you get the large large wisdom Warrior
when when she comes um let let me know because first of all I
need to get you the pattern for the the beaded kit that comes with that uh but I'll put you into uh one of the courses
where I'm demonstrating it a lot so anybody that has large wisdom Warrior
should should email me about that because I want you to have a good experience right A great
experience so I don't any and all education that we have on that I want to make it accessible to you
oh new comments new comments it looks great okay
so I'm just waiting Anissa for you to tell me which one I'm so sorry I can't remember what limb you have Jules it's
she is adorable yes absolutely Cindy yeah sir when make sure you have
you're part of the texting community make sure you let me know when you get your Bloom so that
um I can add you to the large wisdom Warrior course
and Nisa you have the original and you're having trouble warping it is that correct
Judy you just got your you just got your large today
oh we've been making looms till the cows come home
everyone keeps kidding around we're gonna need our own forest and I hate
but the funny thing is that you know um some sometimes the word the wood has
to come literally from from um close to where what did Robert tell me
like Ukraine is like so it's kind of scary um just got here nice nice
does the size of a button make a difference on how long the weave should be um yeah that makes sense Bonnie so
because I'm kissing the button here I want to get rid of my this one right
here Joan removed okay so because I'm
I'm kissing the button literally up into that first row just about I'm not losing
any length and then so you know this was oh I don't have a measure tape with me
but um as long as this piece is like really
close to here Bonnie that shouldn't
is that what you mean because like if you're making a ginor if
you're are you thinking about like using one of the big huge buttons because obviously what makes a
difference with a big huge button is the loop and and what we've talked about is
instead of doing what I just showed you to do with those big huge large buttons we need to do a slider
that's really going to be the key when you're using one of those big ginormous buttons is to make a slider like
um uh don't we have a video on that too doing
a slider Joan I think Trisha somebody's done it for sure but I think that's the I think that's
the answer for that is the Sharko chakra one gone for good there is
are you talking about um the small or the large
so text me Judy um if you want to put the text up there Joan text me with what size chakra
goddess you want um I have one small and one large currently
they're not they're not on the website they're behind me
is 57 in Paso it's crazy it's crazy don't let the wine grapes freeze Hermie
foreign by the way I responded to your
granddaughter I haven't heard back from her make sure she got my email I don't want her to think I'm like being rude
with uh Judy what size did you say because I don't I have to I'll have to
text you the pricing I have one small one large yeah
so I am um working on making the finished example
of the beta bracelet that comes currently with a starter kit so you know once like
I go through the beads I'll have like a bunch of excess beads and so the palette could change but I'm working on that
right now and in our monthly Workshop we're actually working with some gorgeous
crazy lace um it's a 10 by 20 millimeter double
whole double drilled Stone it's turquoise with gold running
through it it's I bought everything they had it's so beautiful um and so we're going to be doing that
in the February project and there were a few more seats left in that and so
um if you're interested in that remember you can subscribe or you can just buy as you go so easy peasy
um if you want to do that it's going to be a really beautiful bracelet and in March we're going to be doing another
gorgeous hat band that uh Brandy my rock star girlfriend just uh designed for the
community oh we got one more angry face I don't
like your angry faces it's not good it's not good vibes what's wrong
talk to me [Laughter] I don't know what that means
okay I think I got everybody's hi Marianne I think I said hi honey
yeah so Judy just text me and let me know okay because that's easier for me to try to get I don't want to get lost
in here Anisa I don't want you to um we want you to be successful we want
you to to figure this um the warping out I need specifics like
what is happening when you warp what are you warping with what's
um like is your first Warp you know uh coming loose
in fact Joan just remind me next Thursday before we get into anything with Danielle just
um remind me to warp the loom but in the meantime I know that there are some videos that she can watch
but usually what happens when you're warping the loom is you either lose tension on the first warp or you lose it
on the last which makes sense right because you're getting started and then if you if you don't keep that tension
then the first warp will droop as you're going around the back button
and the same thing can happen when you are going around the last time
and one more angry face you know when Josh was um had a pouty
face and he was in a bad mood I'd say we tell them ghosts go find your happy face
don't come out of your room until you find your happy face so uh that's all I'm going to say about
nothing refaces oh there's somebody from Facebook I feel my problem is not working because
I'm not warping around four times
sure it shouldn't it it shouldn't um
it shouldn't matter how many times you're warping like you could warped
two times four times eight times um it it's more about keeping the
thank you Anisa are you in the Facebook group I I believe you are
let's make sure we get her as many links as possible
how many times are you trying to go around for the warps
I'm going to take this one off real quick
you're trying to go around for okay if I miss it where do you need to know how to do something please put it on the
jewelry making yeah yeah and he's a post in the in the jewel
loom group that you need help with warping and we're going to load up the
comments section with a bunch of links
and I'm just coming over here really quick I want to see okay seriously did you see Trisha's live today is that not
gorgeous please go check that out it is so beautiful I want to know how she did
that it's with the beadalon wire from my understanding
okay well okay we will help you Cindy we got you
Judy you're gonna text me Brando's dying to get in
so I hope that that helped I hope you know make sure you watch so there's part one of uh back to the basics with the
original jewel loom there's part two there's part 2.5 where basically I just
got on late one night and I finished weaving um just to kind of hang out with you and
so that's called 2.5 today is part three and then next week will be part four
where we're learning how to uh do a different finishing technique where uh Danielle Wicks is going to show us how
to end our seed bead project differently I'm also going to bring on like a bunch
of examples of like how to do the slider I'll show you where I've also sewn on
um where I've also sewn on
a button clasp and so that's also in my book
The Inspirations by Jill Loom book you can get it on Amazon it's off the charts amazing I'm not just saying that f w did
like a killer job publishing and photographing and all that good stuff
they did really really a great great job with that um and so
but you can get that on Amazon and I think it's worth every penny I can't offer free shipping and so I just let
Amazon sell it because it's in your better interest to get free shipping
so okay I will let her know thank you okay all right
well um sad face I hope that your day turns around and that um your angry face Turns Upside
down into a smiley face oh cool Cynthia just got her book today and was looking thank you Cynthia it is
I mean I really think you know all the information that I gave them all the projects and then
everything got laid out and beautifully photographed so well it's really really nice what is it called again
leave my my flannel okay it's called jewel loom inspirations
yeah and just you can uh put that into the Amazon search or my name
Dan where's my name right there Juliana ceverler and so yeah
yeah I don't I don't have the ability to do that Anisa
I think it just sits there and then I think and I think that you're just reminded that it's there but I don't
know that it that it actually does that
but that would be cool if if I could figure that out anyway okay y'all I'm so happy that you
showed up thank you very very grateful for you all the time all the secret time so happy for this little thing right
here because this is how I was successful today and not hearing myself
um technology can really be awesome sometimes other times it could be a pain in the butt but if you have the right
things it works so I'm very happy wish me luck I'm playing Bunco tonight
I'm a little bit of a Bunko fanatic I just love that so much fun rolling the
dice I also love Bingo so I was made for a cruise ship
anyway okay we're gonna uh take off so um I can feed Marlon Brando and uh get
to where I got to go and we're gonna see you next week Corey it's so wonderful to see you I love you
um hi Debbie okay so those of you that needed help please please please just jump you know
